Works great but watch out for side effects
I have extremely bad allergies this year. I decided to give Allegra a try. It worked great. Allegra got rid of all my symptoms but with one bad downside. The side effects were horrible. I felt lethargic, zombie-like. I had bad stomach aches and diarrhea (Sorry for the TMI). I stopped using it and those side effects went away. It worked but those side effects were too much for me. I would recommend because it did work and everybody is different. You might not get those side effects. Hopefully not.

Gelcaps > Tablets
I’m not one to typically notice a difference between gelcap pain relievers versus standard tablet pain relievers. So, I was surprised to feel a notable difference between the Allegra tablets and the gelcaps. They kick in quicker and seem to last a little bit longer.Your mileage may vary based on allergy types and symptoms.Sidenote: I also notice a difference between generic and name brand. Allegra is one of those things in life that are worth splurging on, especially the gelcaps.

Regular Tablets are Great, Allegra Gelcaps Make Me Drowsy
I've used Allegra and Allegra D for going on 20 years. Yes, that means I've used this since it was a prescription medication. I take Allegra D much more often than regular Allegra, but I've taken regular Allegra just as long and don't have to think much about it. I take it in the morning and my allergies and asthma are better for it. Works great for me.Then I saw these Allegra Gelcaps here on Amazon. These look cool I think, I love a gelcap, why not try them? Well, never again. At first I just wrote it off as taking it on days where I was tired, but then I started to wonder - is Allegra making me drowsy??? How can that be? It's a Non-Drowsy pill. I initially dismissed it, but after paying close attention maybe the last 5 times, I can't ignore this anymore. Something in this gelcap formulation is making me drowsy. It has never happened with the regular tablet whether I took the 12-hour or the 24-hour. It's just this gelcap. It's so bizarre. But because this happened, I started looking up information that Sanofi has on Allegra's side effects. Don't you know the side effects for this include sleepiness, drowsiness, tiredness and weakness. WTH? So Allegra has side effects that are the opposite of what it promotes itself for being.I'm in no way bailing on Allegra because of this. But I'm off this gelcap going forward. No idea why just these gelcaps are problematic for me. To say it came as a surprise is an understatement. Who knew after taking something for 20 years I'd need to be careful about when I took it? If you're in the same boat as me with the drowsiness and sleepiness with this gelcap, but this is the most effective allergy medication for you so you don't want to bail on it, make sure you switch up the timing of when you take it. Take it before you go to bed, just like you would with other drowsy formula allergy medications to lessen the impact of the side effect.***Also, a quick note about the directions - they have been greatly simplified over the years, but the formulations remain the same. So the dumbing down of the directions was because people found them too complicated and it made it a less popular choice. I still take Allegra and Allegra D according to the old instructions and that always produces the best result. Take the pill with water on an empty stomach an hour before you eat or 2 hours after you have eaten. If you're taking it after you've eaten, I've found over the years that just 1 hour or 90 minutes after you've eaten works fine too if you're pressed for time. Make sure to never take it with orange juice. So if you find the pill not being as effective as you you'd expect, follow the original directions, as that is the way to get the most effective dispersion into your system.

Allegra for the win
I've normally stuck with Claritin over the years for managing sinus/allergy problems, however I came to realize it was not working as well as it once had. I can say that from my time using Allegra, it definitely has filled in the gap.The best part about this specific one is the potency; each pill is 180mg. This is great for me, as it completely knocks out any symptoms and reactions that come from any sinus/allergy flareup. The pill is not hard to swallow and works relatively quick.I am please and will stick with Allegra going forward.

The only one that works for me
I have an unknown allergy that is mitigated by a daily antihistamine. The Allegra 180mg last the whole day and don't cause any sleepiness. Other brands of the same strength don't cut it, and even the non-gelcaps aren't as good. Downsides include drier skin and thirst when taken daily and they're ridiculously expensive in my opinion. But they do the job and I guess that's what matters in the end.
