Can you see what you're cutting out or not?

Yes... There is a window on the bottom (the underside of the cutter). I use this to cut out soap labels for my round handmade soaps and I have to be able to see the words :)

Is this the size you would use to make a 2.25 inch button?

Thank you for your question. This item punches a 2.5 inch button. Unfortunately we do not sell a 2.25 inch.

would this cut through sticker paper?

It might a time or 2, but I cut out thin card stock with it, but after cutting with it last Christmas it is getting harder to get it to punch
