Extreme Measures

STOLE MY HEART!! Elisabeth Naughton is one of our favorite writers. At Gone Readin’ we love it when authors put a new spin on romance and refuse to give us the same regurgitated love stories we’ve already read. What Naughton does best is adding page turning suspense to this very sexy, death-defying read. The entire Aegis Series is off to a fabulous start. This is the story of Eve Wolfe and Zane Archer who were once lovers, but parted as enemies. Their relationship turned sour when Zane suspected Eve of a most serious betrayal that botched a private security mission for the Aegis Security Team. Zane was seriously injured and many team members lost their lives. Zane is convinced Eve is behind his failed mission, but when reunited they find themselves running for their lives, and named traitors by the CIA. Naughton is a great storyteller and a genius at mixing suspense, romance, and hot sexy scenes. There’s enough believable dialogue to care about the characters, and enough suspense to worry about them as well. Secondary characters are key to a great book because they breathe life into the main characters, and that’s exactly what Naughton delivers. I enjoyed the relationships between Zane and Ryder, Ryder and Marley, Olivia and Eve, and Miller and Olivia. I’m guessing we’ll see more companion novels featuring Miller and Olivia or Ryder and Marley in the near future. Overall this is a compelling story that begins with a bang, delivering a romance packed with hot, steamy sex, and a story that might have been ripped from the headlines! This is one of those books that once you pick it up, it’s nearly impossible to put down!

This story is about a CIA Operative Eve Wolfe and Zane Archer a Aegis Security operative. Zane has been looking for Eve for a year after he caught her breaking the rules and suspects that she has committed treason. Zane operates in a black & white world while Eve operates in a gray world. The problem is they have explosive chemistry. When Zane finds her, he is determined to teach her a lesson and find out all of her secrets. Instead, they are on the run from a group that is trying to kill them. The action is fast and furious, the romance hot, twists to the story that I wasn't expecting, introductions to potential characters for the next book that are interesting. Overall this is a good book and one you don't want to put down until you figure out what is going on.

Originally Reviewed For: Tea and Book I Love Elisabeth Naughton, I really do but if she writes one more book that keeps me up until 3AM, I am going to have to hunt her down and have some serious words with her (maybe take some Extreme Measures even). Extreme Measures is book one in her fabulous new series Aegis Security Systems.. Now with Ms. Naughton's previous series the Eternal Guardians, all laced with Greek Mythology (ad Aegis sounding just a bit Greek) it would be easy to assume that this fell along those lines, don't think that, you would be wrong. It is an action packed, fast paced, intense, suspense filled piece of insanity that yes, kept me up until 3AM.. CIA agent Evie Wolff has a job to do, it's to find those in the agency that have turned. To track down the bad guys within. A difficult task but one that took her to and away from the one man she will ever love. Knowing he thinks she betrayed them both, knowing he would prefer her out of his life, Evie still can't turn her back on him. So when an op turns bad, things start blowing up and Evie is caught in the crossfire, of course Zane Archer is around to see her at her worst.. Zane Archer left the CIA, knowing it just wasn't for him. For Zane it's a black and white world and the CIA?? Well it's a world full of grey. Having turned to the Aegis Agency things might be looking up, that is until an op goes bad, the principal is dead and a mocking phone call from his past sets him off. Now he is determined to find Eve and discover just what she is up to. To take her down if she has turned bad. But when he finds her, everything is insane and nothing is like it's supposed to be. Is Evie an agent for good or bad? And honestly does it really matter? She owns his heart. Taking the news right from the headlines and making it unique.. What a fabulous gift. Ms. Naughton makes the unreasonable, reasonable. Reminds us that the only power worth having is the power of love. She also manages to raise questions while answering others. To frustrate us, to drive us insane and eventually to make us love her wonderful characters. The twists and turns in this story delight. A whodunit at it's best. I knew for sure, absolutely positively who the bad guy was.. at least until I turned the page. Then well, all bets were off! I promise this series is going to ROCK and Elisabeth will have yet another winner on her hands! Start now, get in at the beginning because if you don't you will regret it! would say 3+ stars. has to be my least favorite of hers. and I have loved all of her books. it just drug on for me...I took breaks to play candy crush every couple of chapters. I just never connected with it, and felt like the action was weak, the steam was even "meh". sorry, this one fell flat for me.

Zane and Eve had a hot relationship years ago while they were on an operation for the CIA. Zane ended up believing that Eve was a traitor, and that belief was solidified when he was injured in action years later. He leaves his job with Aegis security to find Eve and exact his revenge. But he stumbles into more than he expects, and Eve might be someone other than who he thinks she is. Extreme Measures is exciting, fast-paced, sexy, and suspenseful.

I have been a huge fan of this author because of her love of the characters, all of the characters are amazing in personality, demeanor and the chemistry is spectacular. She put as much love and forethought into these two as she has with the others. This story was fast paced, easy to read, it has awesome twists and turns and you get an awesome surprise at the end with who the mole is. Very much worth the read and you won't even realize the time is slipping away.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book....lots of drama, suspense, and hot moments! The book was well written, with a great storyline....kind of like a sexy James Bond movie in print! Would have liked a better epilogue, to see what happened afterwards (not just between the main characters but also Olivia and Miller). Not sure if other books in this series follow on.

Have read one other book by this author and downloaded this as I enjoyed the other and it was cheap! Boy am I glad I did. It was full of intrigue and suspense, well written and a great story line. The steamy scenes were smokin' hot but not overly graphic and the reader is introduced to other characters who are interesting and likeable and you can see where their stories may go in the other books in this series. In case there is any confusion as to my opinion of this book (I doubt that), I loved it and would recommend it to any readers of romance or romantic suspense and have just downloaded the other two in the series.

Zane needs answers that can come only from Eve’s still-tempting lips, and he finally has the elusive operative right where he wants her—at his mercy. oh! this had a couple of twists and turns and i had to double back at times! long plot line, that goes back a while, but really good. Im a fan of Naughton anyway, but this just nailed it! you get to hear from Zane and Eve, so thats a good thing! Eve and Zane revisit their relationship, that ended badly when a job went wrong, while trying to keep themselves from getting killed, while also trying to save some very sensitive information getting into the wrong hands. lots of action, and lots of hot scenes, plenty to keep everyone happy! 4.5 stars.
