The Ukulele Songbook: 50 All Time Classics

Was hoping for some fingerpicking tabs, but this is just single note melodies and chords. And the song selection is interesting - I guess you could call some of these all time classics but for me stuff like Jingle Bells, Home on the Range, Little Brown Jug are not very inspiring. Feels very old-fashioned - I had a guitar tutor book like this in the 1970s which nearly put me off learning to play altogether.

This book is great. After hours of sitting through YouTube tutorials I just wanted some songs in one place, that I could flick through and try. The pieces are slightly simplified and transcribed to easy keys, so they’re great for a beginner. Chord diagrams are shown on each page, along with the tune, chords and tabs for each song. Very happy with my purchase.

ProsIt's simple chords and arranged for beginnersConsQuite a few of the arrangements seem to have silly chord errors (or else they've been chosen to be easier) that affect the sound of the tune too muchmost of the songs are old, boring songs that nobody wnats to sing. (few exceptions)

This is the second book of songs I have purchase from this author. The songs are well laid out, no turning pages over half way thru. It covers all bases, play by tab, play by chord, or play the score if you can read notes. The only thing which would make this book better is a soundtrack which would help with the more obscure songs to know how they should sound or even just to play along with.If you are new to the Uke this is one of the books for you, clear to read, useful info on chords and strumming at the end of the book too.I wish I had found it a year ago when I started out instead of buying tuition books with maybe half a dozen songs in at three time the price of this one book.I will be getting volume 2 very soon!

This is a very good value book for a learner on the ukulele, with mainly timeless songs suitable for a sing-song at a festival or for children. A good buy!
