This is a very good investment. I have other locks by Schlage and Kwik Set but they pale in comparison to this lock. In addition toits industrial-like strength, it requires no batteries. This eliminates the inconvenience of the once-in-a-long while that you absolutely need to get in the house in a hurry -- but the battery is dead. Well, not with this lock. In addition, it is not weather sensitive either. Often, my Schlage would fail in the winter time because the temperature was too low for the battery to be operational. The best part about this particular lock is that it has a "passage" thumb turn. If you put the small thumb turn in one direction, the door won't lock on you going out say when you plan on coming right back in as when you unload groceries from the car. However, it may also be turned in the other direction, locking the door behind you each and every time so you don't have to mess with keys or punching in buttons. It was fairly easy to install. If you know what you are doing or have done it before, it should take less than an hour - and most of that is for drilling holes. I did not know what I was doing and messed something up inadvertantly. I called customer service and they suggested resetting the lock. It was easy to do, but had to take it off the door to do so. There are pictures on YouTube on how to do this too, so I ended up getting this to work almost immediately. I like that you can have up to a 5-digit code but can change that at any time. Also, it can left-handed from the factory, but there was an illustration on YouTube on how to change it to right-handedness. There is even an illustration showing you how to determine what handedness you need for your door. This is a Class 1 lock - meaning there is no higher rating for lock. I installed this on our garage man-door. I don't think it is fancy enough for a front entry. If you forget your code, you may use your key. However, you will have to remove the lock from the door and go through the process of resetting it, as there is no way to recover a forgotten pass code.
