Decent Quality Compared to Other Brands
I received the filters today and was pleased to find all 100 filters were there. Another company sent a shipment that was one short of 30. I compared these filters with that of the other company. They are exactly the same size, which I was expecting; however, there were noticeable differences. I noticed these filters had a thinner, more transparent outer layer. That concerned me so I decided to cut open one of each to assess the quality of both. I confirmed that this company makes a thinner outer layer; it’s very transparent. The second layer was about equal in type and thickness. The carbon layer on this filter feels less permeable and of better quality. I wish the outer layer was thicker, but knowing the inner layers are better quality makes me feel better. As for breathability, they feel about equal. All in all I’m satisfied with this purchase.

Think they will do the job

It’s legit
It’s legit, no plastic. It’s good quality. It is made in China but what isn’t made in China. Fits perfect inside my mask.

They aren't all they're cracked up to be.
Sometimes thick is good and sometimes it's bad. I think in this case it's so thick, or maybe dense, that most of the air you breathe comes around it, rather than through it, and that's bad. I also found these to be a bit small, but that's probably my fault for not measuring better. I have to make sure they get inserted higher in the mask sleeve but they do stay put well. I wound up purchasing the nose bridge adhesive strips separately from another seller and I adhere them to the filters to make them form to my nose a little better and that helps cut down on fogging. This mask stuff isn't the most ideal thing, but it's what we have to do, I guess.Pros: Thick, dense, does reduce ambient smells.Cons: Too thick or dense and it makes air movement through filter too hard so air seems to go around a lot. Measure first.Suggestions for manufacturers: get airflow testing. Offer larger sizes for bigger masks.

An inexpensive, comfortable alternative to N95 masks
These things work. I'm living in Smoke Central (California, 2020), so I need something to filter out the junk. N95s do a pretty good job, but have you looked at the price of them lately? Wow! These do a good job, too, at a fraction of the cost and much more comfortably.I tested these by walking among a bunch of smokers. From 15 feet away, without the mask, I got a strong whiff of the tobacco smoke, but with the mask on I couldn't smell it at all even at very close quarters. I did the same test on smokey days (lots of those this summer) with the same result. They work. They're also easy to breathe through. Easier than the N95s.NOTE: These filters ship with no instructions for use. Some research indicates they are probably good for a week or two of off-and-on use. Less if you're wearing them for eight hours a day. I kind of figure as long as they block the smell of smoke they're okay, but they're cheap enough to change out fairly regularly. Also, there is a right side and a wrong side to the masks, which isn't explained because no instructions. You need to place the filter with the PM2.5 label facing toward you.I like these things. Combined with my washable cloth face mask, they do the job. I'll probably keep wearing them even after the 2020 nastiness goes away.
