I use it to box off areas on a food service counter. The area consistently has water on it, it has held up well and I think it would work for your application as well.

I used the black color in an indoor and outdoor application about 2 months ago and it is holding well. The adhesion looks good and stable. Of course surface you apply it to will also effect adhesion.

Can this hold for a long time if i put it on top of a shower knob?

It holds up well in the weather, rain & snow. But using it on a knob that you'll turn and push against. It might come off sooner than if it was in the elements but not being rubbed or pushed against.

How does this compare to vinyl electrical tape in terms of stretch and holding strength?

I used it to color code cables and I use black electrical tape; seems to be exactly the same just different color and it is holding up very well for my use better-than-expected.
