Not a good read
I have read Mr. Godawa's book "When Giants Were Upon The Earth" and have been intrigued with Michael Heiser's work on the Divine Council. Both I highly recommend. However, I cannot recommend this one. The book is supposed to be edited to be appropriate for ages 13 and above. Before you allow your 13 year old to read it, please know that there is much talk of sexual attraction between the main characters. Sex is referred to as "knowing" each other and is presented as something beautiful in context of marriage, but at 13 years, the descriptions may be too much. For example... "A deep yearning came over Methuselah that he never experienced before. He hungered for Edna, body and soul. They had better get to Sahandria quickly so he could marry her." "She thought of Methuselah's hand, and how strong and manly it was, yet how it could caress her with such affection." Honestly, the pet names between lovers and the repeated comments about sexual desire seemed immature. I almost stopped reading because of them, but I really don't like to give up on a book in the middle of it, so I kept reading. The angels are not described as being good role models. Even one of the characters made the comment..."They (the archangels Mikael, Gabriel, Raphael and Uriel) all seemed to bicker and pick on the small one." I'm all for a bit of fun, but I can't envision an archangel "picking on the small one." So...at half way through...I'm now finished with the book. The evil of the day is described thoroughly and includes sexual abuse and child sacrifice as one would expect. The writing is OK, not the best. The long descriptive passages at the beginning would be more interesting if presented with more dialogue or action. At one point I thought maybe I was reading an introduction to a play instead of the story itself. I had difficulty "falling in love" with the characters. The story did not engage me enough that I can look past the archangel's behaviors.

great book!
We really enjoyed this book and are getting the whole series! It opens the mind to the possibilities that could have happened. Puts flesh on the bones of those we've read about but really know little personally.
