This is a great visual for children - you set the amount of time they have for play, they can watch the red space decrease, and know the time is up. There is no pause or any other mechanism - can't really use it as a timer when you need to know testing or racing time - not that kind of timer.

Does it come with a stand?

No stand with the one I bought. It hangs on the wall but it is wide enough to stand alone on a flat surface.

Does it work in the dark
