This is a story full of surprise, secrets that pulls you in as the dark side takes over making you want to find out all you can of these characters and their demons. Wilder sure puts the twists on in this twisted dark story of a hit man and the wife of the man who died. The author takes you from present to past and back again as you are left holding your breath waiting to see what happens next.One is out for revenge going through Vanessa to get it if she gets hurt oh well no big deal. Revenge is going to be so sweet. As they take a walk down memory lane we see the torture that Phoenix dishes out it will bring chills down your spine. Vanessa is a survivor she does the best with the hand she is given she will stand the test of time and hope to come out even. My heart really went out to her. This is a very dark, dirty, with sexual twist that just keep coming until the end. Just when you think nothing more can happen the author shows you just how many twists she can spin.This is a story that I totally enjoyed I loved the secrets along with all the twist and turns the author gives us. There are characters here you will like and a few that you won’t that is what makes this so great when an author can really make you dislike so great you would like to get your hands on a few to show them what it is like. I liked the second chance this couple gets there is no doubt these two were made for each other. There will be times you will feel their pain and other times you will be yelling at them. It was a wonderful read I can’t wait for the next one.

It's hard to fully write down in words how much I enjoyed this book. I love a good dark romance and Clarissa is definitely one of few authors I go to when I want just that and more. I totally love the bad boys we're supposed to hate. Nix was definitely one of those guys. He was everything I like in a dark romance, sexy, broken and all kinds of crazy but I loved him! Vanessa, now it took me awhile to like her but after getting to know her history and understand her she warmed up to me. Vanessa and Nix together was a sexy hot mess! Just like Clarissa's other books I love how she really gives us such detail about the character's history. With that I really get attached to the character's and you get a true sense of who they are and what they been through. If you love your dark romances this is one you don't want to miss. It's has twist and turns and crazy poeple set on revenge. Oh and you definitely want to read the prequel Killer you don't have to but it gives you more of what happened in the beginning. This was a crazy emotional ride I couldn't put down. Oh and this just made me want more of Mr.X! Please more Mr.X in the future! Maybe?

This book is wild. This book has plenty of secrets, and it is so dark, that it immediately draws you in to finding out its secrets.This is such a dark, twisted, sensual story about a hit man and the wife of the man who is dead. There is so many secrets and a past between Phoenix and Vanessa that , as the reader, you think maybe is dead but as you are reading, can start to tell, is not dead, is very much alive and is breathing ,pulsing great big gulps of life.As the reader, we get to see the past in this book and OMG, I didn’t know how connected the MC were to each other but I do now. Phoenix isn’t just out for Vanessa, he is out for some revenge and if in the process he ends up hurting Vanessa and shedding her blood, oh well, he is ok with that. He more or less ends up spiriting Vanessa away and they take this crazy trip and on this trip they take a trip down memory lane. I swear, there was a time or two I literally jumped out of my seat because the psychological torture by Phoenix is soo intense yet Vanessa got a few verbal hits in at times. I felt for Vanessa , because she got a raw deal and she did the best she could with the hand she was dealt.There are many MANY dirty, dark, sexual twists and turns In this story up until the very end. I really enjoyed this story. I know I would have liked a few characters to have something done to them but maybe a follow-up or something down the road. Who knows.. I know that Phoenix and Vanessa are a match made for each other. They should have been together years ago so this is a great 2nd chance love story, albeit a bit of a twisted one.,My rating: 4.6 stars *****

well that was a roller coaster of a ride with a hell of a lot of bumps in the way!It did take me a while to get into the story but once i was in i couldn't put it down.Nix is a dreamy bad boy with a heart hidden under all those tats, metal and anger, he's coming for revenge but gets more than he bargained for. I screamed at the kindle a few times and even bad to phone a friend who's read it for a rant, maybe because i felt wrong hating Vanessa who is meant to be the poor little rich girl suffering but i was actually feeling sorry for Phoenix

This was yet again another cracking book by Clarissa! Nix & Vanessa are both very damaged & dangerous people. You know you really shouldn't like them, but you can't help yourself! This is certainly a dark & twisted story, but if you like your books 'darker than the darkest dark thing', then this is a must read! I would definitely recommend this book, but take note of the warnings & don't purchase if you think the content might upset you.

This book is dark and will take your emotions chew them up and spit them out. If you enjoy your characters twisted then this is the book for you. It's intense, it's erotic and it's an absolutely great read. Clarissa Wild is a superb wordsmith and she really likes to mess with your heart and mind

A fantastic read it had me on the edge, i would recommend to family and friends especially the ladies .
