Seiko Men's Year-Round Quartz Watch

Many years ago, my father gave me this watch as a gift for my first father's day. It was my first "nice" watch, and since then I've added many interesting timepieces to my collection, but this one continues to be a headturner at a bargain price. When I wear it I get compliments, people regularly think it is a much more expensive piece despite being quartz movement, no lumibrite, mineral instead of sapphire, etc.For one, the stainless steel hour markers and hands have a gorgeous finish and glint brightly in the light. It's lightweight, fits a slim wrist very comfortably, has a sturdy clasp, and it keeps very good time. Aesthetically, its a very attractive watch, the combination of black dial with black subdials with stainless steel numerals, hands, and bracelet gives it a very sporty look. Moreover, it's a Seiko, a very high quality brand with a fantastic reputation and more than enough heritage and pedigree. For about $200, this is a tremendous bargain.So who is this watch for and what are the occasions? If you are a serious collector, then this might qualify as a "beater", something you wear very casually. If you are someone that wants a nice watch but has a very small budget, this is 100% the watch for you. I tend to view the 6T63 00B0 the same way my father did, which is as a gateway piece to a young man. On a young man's wrist, this is something that can be worn casually or even dressy. I can only think of one other piece off the top of my head that is in this price range and has this much versatility for a young person, and that is the Timex Waterbury chrono TW2V42500. Either piece will make an excellent gift for a young man that is "coming of age" and celebrating a high school graduation or entering fatherhood.As an addendum, I'll add that when the battery does die, this is a piece that is worth sending off to get serviced at a Seiko service center. When my own 6T63 00B0's battery died, I was on the fence if it was worth sending off to get serviced since the cost (about $135) was nearly the cost of the piece. Because it has sentimental value, I ultimately chose to send it for servicing and I was stunned. When the watch came back to me, it had been completely polished and cleaned in addition to having the battery changed. It looked brand new. Seiko has a top-reputation for taking care of their customers.

Steel could be higher quality and scratch resistance could be better (mineral to sapphire)

Love the corporate look of the watch. The only con is that the dial case is made of glass, hence catches fingerprints and fog. Recommend to buy.
