Centuries

Been looking for this book for a while because I kept reading 'about' Thomas Traherne. He should be more widely available because his insightful commentary and worldview are a great antidote to the modern world. I was happy to find this reasonably priced edition and it was shipped promptly.

Apparently Thomas Traherne's writing inspired C.C. Lewis' imagery in the Narnia books. Very inspiring in connecting with nature and Nature's God. 🌳🪺🌅

This is an unusual 1960 edition of Traherne's greatest book, based on the authoritative 1958 two-volume edition. It's difficult to find the 1960 edition at a reasonable price, and I was delighted with this one. It was in excellent condition and arrived quickly.

I don't know what edition those readers are looking at, but there are no pages missing in the Angelico Press edition. 226-227 are certainly present.

Refreshing and engaging poetry from someone I’d never heard of. Christian worldview.

The book was just as described and I received it when promised. I would definitely recommend this vendor again.

"Centuries," by Thomas Traherne is said to be "...almost the most beautiful book...in English" by C. S. Lewis, and I could not agree more. It must be read. It must be experienced. Traherne stands alone in greatness.

Unfortunately, as another reader has noted, this 2020 edition by Angelico Press, edited by Michael Martin, is missing two penultimate pages (226 & 227).

If you like Christian mysticism and aren't put off by old-fashioned English, you may love this book (I did). The one issue with this printing is that pages 226 and 227 are missing! Pretty annoying, since they're right at a spiritual climax of the book. If it's the only printing you can find, though, it's still worth it!

This work was suggested by David Bentley Hart in one of his books so for me it was a must read. Here like a modern day Mooji is laid out texts to ponder and allow oneself to be submerged in their meaning. However unlike Mooji the orientation is toward a constant personal relationship with God and his creation rather than a guidance towards an Indo- buddhist tradition where peace , nothingness and emptiness hold the key.
