... well built and the digital display is bright with good contrast and easy to read
The thermometer seems well built and the digital display is bright with good contrast and easy to read. It came in the mail in two days without any damage and after I installed an AAA battery (not supplied) it worked as advertised. When checked against a laboratory grade glass thermometer traceable to NIST standards, the thermometer was only one degree off at 0 degrees F. well within its specifications. The temperature sensor tip is 4mm (5/32") in diameter, x 25mm (1") long. The probe wire is round, 2mm (5/64") in diameter x 153mm (60 1/4") long and seems sturdy enough not to break in normal use. However the wires does get stiff at freezing temperatures. The display unit has a flip-out stand that is easy to open and a magnet powerful enough so that the display does not fall from a vertical (steel) surface or the top of a chest type freezer when the lid is opened and closed. Unlike many other devices I have owned, the lid to the battery compartment to this display is easy to open and close. The high and low alarm limits were simple to set and worked as advertised when I tested them. I do value that the alarm keeps sounding until the alarm button is pressed to re-set it. I have a chest type freezer and when I first got the thermometer I just ran the probe wire over the top edge and closed the lid. Some ice formed around where the wire entered the freezer, not a lot, but some. I followed another users suggestion and ran the wire under the gasket. In my case I could not pull the gasket from the lid without tearing the gasket so I pulled the gasket out from the lid, stretching it enough to expose the thin connecting web and using an ice pick, punched a hole and ran the wire through the hole. Problem solved.. no ice.I am a regular Prime customer and paid the listed price for this unit and do recommend it.

Good Product and price
Good Product and price. I bought three so far and plan to get more. The magnets are strong enough to hold it on a refrigerator/freezer. The temperature update time seems to be one minute which is fine for a refrigerator or freezer. The cable on the probe is flexible and 1/16 inch in diameter. I used a hot melt glue gun to attach the cable to the walls of the fridge. Too soon to know how the wear and tear of opening and closing the door will be on the cable. It's small diameter is not interfering with the gasket around the door. The alarm is not a steady tone but will beep 5 times every two minutes. Sound level will be fine if you are in the same room or near it but it will not wake you up and if your fridge is in the garage like one of mine is, you will not hear it when you are in the house. Suggestion to manufacture: another jack to connect a remote loud alarm would be great.

Best freezer alarm for my puposes
Freezer alarm part seems to work great once set up.However:1) I bought 2 of these. One beeps considerable louder than the other one. Not good.2) Buzzers are located on the back and sound leaks out through some slots. When you mount it using the magnets, which most people would probably do, the buzzers are extremely muffled. Not good. In a high noise environment, there's no way you're going to hear it.3) Hi-lo temp readings can only be reset by removing the battery. Not good. Not sure if this would knock out your freeze warning settings or not.4) Hi-lo temperature readings can only be displayed by pressing a depressed button on the back. Inconvenient. Also, if you accidentally leave it on Min or Max you may begin to wonder why the thing seems frozen and unresponsive.5) Setup is difficult and would be impossible without instructions as there's nothing you could intuitively figure out.None of the shortcomings are a deal-breaker for me. Not disappointed with main function of protecting my frozen supplies. It's reassuring when you open the door too long and the thing starts beeping showing that it's doing it's job. FYI, the sample rate is 10 seconds between readings, I suppose to extend battery life as it only takes a single AAA battery. Looking at reviews for some of the other freezer alarms, this seems to be the one to get. Hits right on that price/reliability ratio. Unless something weird starts happening, these are the ones I'm sticking with.

Works well for what I wanted to do.
Got one for freezer and then another for a mini-fridge. Works well for what I wanted.

No directions for using product or setting up the alarms
No directions for setting alarms and unless seller can provide directions, I'll be returning product. You would think setting alarms would be easy but pressing the 3 buttons in various ways did not help and it's not like I haven't set up many other products. Screen response to pressing buttons was also not consistent.

Decent and the right price👍🏼
It's for my freezer in the garage. The audible alarm isn't super loud but I will hear it out on the garage if the breaker flip or the freezer calls it quits. I just don't wanna see all that food go bad. I'm not sure on the battery life but every night when I pull in the garage I can read the temp. 5 star for price and workability so far🤞

Accuracy doubtful
I am mixed about my reviews. I have an old one and 3 new ones. All read differently.

Easy to use & read
I use it for all cooking on the grill. I typically bump the recommenced cooking temperatures by a couple degrees "just to be safe" and meats always come out perfect texture and moisture. No need to cut into the food while cooking.Uses one AAA battery which lasts a long time (months) in this application. handy built-in timer to remind when to flip. On/off/setable sensor for when food reaches preset temp. The only minor concern is, the cord for the probe could be more heat resistant, so be careful it doesn't dangle close to hot coals or burners. I fried one and ordered another on Amazon.
