OvationCelebrity Collection 6 String Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Right, Ruby Red, Super Shallow Body (CE48-RR)

This is the third Ovation guitar I have owned. The first was an Applause, and I enjoyed it a lot. In addition to the CE48-RR I just received I have a CE44-SM that is about 10 years old. I've always wanted one of the Super Shallow models because it is more comfortable like playing an electric. Like all Ovation guitars the tone is on the bright side. The CE48 doesn't have quite the amount of bass while playing acoustically as the CE44 does, but this should be expected. The finish on the top is beautiful. The fret ends are not quite as finished as my CE44 were, but they aren't sharp or sticking out, just need to be smoothed a little. At least for my taste. The guitar stays in tune, sounds good and is everything I expected. I would recommend this product.

The guitar is a great guitar. I already have one blue and that's why I bought one in red. I really love the ruby red color. I was psyched to get it! I waited outside for the delivery guy. And when you hand it to me, I could feel it shaking around in the box, so I started getting worried. Did a great job of Sealing the box. When I opened it up, I noticed it had one small piece of bubble wrap wrapped around the neck and some other paper stuffed in there I went to pull it out and I saw the front of the guitar was damaged and it wasn't the color I ordered. It says Ruby red, but it wasn't. I put up a picture. You judge.

The delivery was faster than estimated. Arrived well packaged and with no defects. I needed an easy to play acoustic that was for its durability too. I'd never chosen ovation before but the shallow body interested me. The action is low as I expected and it doesn't slide around when sitting and playing because of a section of the guitar having a non slip area unlike other ovation models. Built in tuner and 3 band eq is useful. The tuners feel stiff but they hold tune. Replacing them isn't necessary but I probably will.

Got this Ovation as an Amazon Warehouse deal. And what a deal! Box damaged, perfect guitar inside! Not a scratch!Ruby red, gloss top. Looks fantastic! Tone is good, (this one is a super-shallow bowl) but of course a little thinner when played without an amp compared to my mid-deep bowl Ovation. Plugged in--WOW! Sounds beautiful. I bought it for the comfort of playing compared to the deeper bowl models Ovation offers. Tuners seem a little sloppy, but hold well. Neck is nice, plays nice, intonation good, stays in tune! Overall a nice guitar!

I ordered this guitar for doing some live playing and recording and it sounds great as an acoustic. But when I plugged it in, it made this horrible electrical sound. Usually it's the sound my bass starts to make when the battery is dying, so I swapped batteries -- same thing. I tried a third battery, same thing. I tried a different cable and a different amp, same result. My dad has the same guitar, so I made sure all these things worked for his guitar and his had no problem.I returned it, thinking it was a dud, and I re-ordered a new one. Sure enough, I plug it in and it is making the horrible sound again. I went through the same process (swapping batteries, cables, amps, etc.) and had no luck. I really like the guitar overall, it has awesome action, it's light and it sounds great, but when I plug it in, it is basically unusable. I can probably get someone to look at it and fix it, but I would expect that it would work coming new out of the box. Hoping to get this resolved because I like the guitar otherwise.
