Perfect for independent pets
After installing this doggie door for my 85-pound Labrador, I'm impressed with both the durability and functionality. The plastic construction makes it significantly lighter than metal alternatives, which made the installation process much more manageable. Despite being plastic, it feels sturdy and has withstood months of frequent use without showing signs of wear.Installation was straightforward, though I'd recommend having a second person help hold it in place while marking and cutting. The included template was accurate, and the mounting hardware is good quality. The paintable surface is a nice touch - I was able to match it perfectly to my door color. The weather stripping creates a good seal, and I haven't noticed any drafts even during windy weather. The flap itself moves smoothly and has just the right amount of resistance. My dog learned to use it within a day, and the transparent flap helped him feel more confident about going through it. The closing panel is secure when locked in place, perfect for nighttime or when we're away. The flap corners are well-reinforced, which is crucial for preventing tears from repeated use.One tip: take time to install it at the right height for your pet. I measured my dog's chest height as recommended, and it's been perfect. While it's marketed for pets up to 100 pounds, the opening is generous enough that I can see it working well for even larger dogs. The value for money here is excellent considering the quality of materials and thoughtful design features.

Best pet door on the market
I've installed several pet doors over the years.About 2 years ago I purchased this door, and all I can say is it's perfect. You can't get much easier when it comes to installing.Heck, you don't even need the template, just take the shell without the swinging silicone door and place it on the area you want to install. You can then size up how it will look. Then trace the inside. It's a rectangle cut out, so you can easily mark, cut, mount, done.Five stars all the way, and it's durable.Like said above, bought this same one 2 years ago, and it's still like new.BUY IT, WELL WORTH IT.

Good door, lousy cover
The door itself is good, just like an older PetSafe door I have on another door. Installation was as designed with easy enough instructions to follow. The cover to keep the pets out is a whole other discussion. The older door, and every other doggie door I've ever used was of the simple to use design of a door sliding in from the top in two tracks. That's always worked easily, simply, and effectively. This new design involves tabs where you push the door over the frame and snap the three tabs into slots on the sides and bottom of the frame. That part is easy enough. The fun comes in trying to take the door off. It takes some actual finger strength to pull the tabs out enough to release them, plus you have to bend down fairly far to get to them, then you push down to release the bottom tab. I'm still a pretty fit old guy, so I don't have a giant problem doing it, but my wife does. The other problem I see coming is that those tabs are going to break off when the plastic gets a little brittle after a couple of years. Then the door won't be able to be secured at all.I'm not sure why they changed the design, but it's not a change for the better.

Exactly what I needed
Exactly what I was looking for, nothing fancy but functional. The large size is up to 100lb dog but mine is 75lb and I’m not sure a dog much bigger than him would be comfortable so I would size up if yours is larger. Installation was very simple and straightforward. I used a sawzall rather than a jigsaw they recommend and it was fine as long as you’re steady and comfortable cutting. I opted not to remove my door from the hinges and it worked out just fine. I would just recommend having a second person to help click the two sides of the frame together if so.

Good
I had this installed for about one year it works great my dog outgrew it and ended up tearing it up. They just did not have a bigger size so I went a different route for a smaller dog. I could see this last thing a long time.
