One Stop Shop For Mental Toughness
This is a great little book. I purchased it for my partner who, despite not falling under the category of "young athlete" (well, she's 30, she'd argue THAT toss with me), she's not as into reading sports psychology tomes as I am, and I was looking for something a little simpler that I could distill for her.It absolutely did not disappoint. As someone who has spent over 20 years reading all manner of sports psychology books, there wasn't anything new here that I had not read elsewhere, but I'm not the target audience. Young athletes won't have spent the time I have reading as widely as I have. So this should be new to them.Although there's nothing I've not read here before, this is the first time I've found all of these tips in one single place. It's a one stop shop.I really love this book for it's simplicity but also breadth. Yeah, you could want to read deeper into some aspects, but you don't *need* to to get the full benefit of these exercises (and I know from experience that they do work. But you've got to do them every day, for years, to get the full benefit of them. They're not a magic wand).I've already purchased the follow up and the parent's guide as well.I've seen in some reviews complaints about grammatical errors, but I found about two in total. So I assume these have been editted out in future editions. It is certainly not a jarring read and my praise is not in spite of the presentation of the text. So don't let those reviews put you off.

A must have for any young athlete!
Brought this book for my 14 year old, football playing son. We have been sharing it together and it’s just perfect. My son is loving it & really beginning to take the whole ‘Mental toughness’ thinking and applying it into his sport & everyday life. It’s a game changer! So glad I brought it and would 100% recommend.Thank you!

Mental Toughness For Young Athletes: A Helpful Resource with Some Flaws
Overall, I thought Mental Toughness For Young Athletes was an okay book. The principles are sound and the exercises are easy to follow. However, I found the book to be a bit too American-centric. The author uses a lot of American sports examples, which can be a bit alienating for readers from other countries. Additionally, the editing in the book is poor. There are a number of typos and grammatical errors, which can make it difficult to read at times.Despite these flaws, I think Mental Toughness For Young Athletes could be a helpful resource for young athletes who are looking to improve their mental toughness. The principles are sound and the exercises are easy to follow. If you can overlook the American-centric focus and the poor editing, I think this book will be a helpful resource. Here are some of the pros and cons of the book:Pros:The principles are sound. The exercises are easy to follow. My daughter liked it, and we read it aloud together.Cons:The book is a bit too American-centric.The editing is poor.Sometimes it's hard to follow.Overall, I would give this book a 4 out of 5 stars. It's not a perfect book, but it could be a helpful resource for young athletes who are looking to improve their mental toughness.

Little Girls Can be Tough Too!
So, my daughter decides to take up Football (Soccer) having had no interest until nearly 8 years old, when suddenly the bug takes hold following a school trial session and a suggestion from a friend to give it a go.Fast forward nearly three years and she has made fantastic progress in a very short time with a recent invite for an academy trial with the biggest local team! Now the road to this point has been bumpy and props to my daughter for showing the courage to continue despite them but, one thing that did significantly help her (and myself as ‘Dad coach’), was this little gem of a book I stumbled upon whilst considering how to help her become more focused and able to understand that sport comes with it’s bumps and bruises and it’s ok to be competitive and ‘give it back’ as it were (within the rules) as sport is a different thing than our day to day manner, something I noticed many similar age struggle with.We read through the book together one chapter at a time and then I would sit back and let the ideas marinate only to stand back in awe to see her apply the very ideas and have a new level of determination show through in the very next game! So much so, her coaches were taken aback too and it made for a new central position in the team with her new found battling instinct to pair with her already formidable athleticism and rapidly improving skills and tactical understanding.Regardless of the sport your little one has chosen, the path will have many similarities given it’s ‘the mind the drives the thing’, so consider purchasing this very reasonably priced and highly accessible little book for them to read and watch how it influences them to show their best selves too!

The book is good for kids and for parents too. Only one thing - so many advertisement of the website “gamereadycourse”. I have visited this website and it’s nothing there, I don’t want to share my, or my children’s emails, but it’s pushing me. Honestly, now I not sure what I have a full information from the book, maybe it’s something on the website, but I paid for the book…
