Interesting read
I'm a total amateur concerning meteorological disasters but I enjoy reading about some of the major disasters in America's past. So I skipped some of the technical stuff because I wouldn't have understood it anyway. But the human stories are what I like to read and, considering how long ago it was, I found this book pretty well written. Of course, he would have to rely on newspaper reports and family stories since most of the survivors, adults who would have the most accurate memories, would be dead now. I was also touched that he was writing about his own family's experience. I would have loved to see more photos but I'm sure they are few and rare to find now. It's not like the disasters of today with total media coverage. Anyway, I thought Akin did a good job of telling the human stories.

Very interesting!
This book gave me a real understanding of how dangerous The Great Tri-State Tornado of 1925 was with firsthand accounts in detailed writing. The author shares his passion and his own account of this storm and how it affected the communities involved. It also explains how tornadoes from. It's sad more people aren't aware of this disastrous storm.

Storm of the Century
If you're a scientist, storm chaser or just are fasinated with Tornadoes then this book is for you. I couldn't put it down. Although it happened some time ago, to know that something that powerful happened is amazing! And all the compelling details and stats were good too. A great read for any severe weather lover.

Impressive
If you're expecting a science book about tornadoes and in particular about the tri-state tornado, then look somewhere else. The science in this book is present only in the first chapter while the authors explains what conditions where present that day that made this extreme tornado possible. The rest of the book is like a horror story in which each chapter is a collection of people experience who survived and died during the storm. The author really makes you feel inside the storm and you just wish you were there to see this tornado because there are literally no pictures or photos of it, but only pictures of the aftermath it left behind.

1925 the tristate tornado(But the Forgotten Storm ?)
Next to the book Death Rides The Shy this book is one of the best written about the 1925 tri-state tornado. But poorly titled the forgotten storm, The Galveston hurricane of 1900 deserves that distinction.
