Does exactly what it should - essential for USB-C only laptops
Why I bought it: My laptop only has USB-C ports (no USB-A), so I needed this adapter to connect to Cisco equipment for console access. This cable solved that problem immediately. Compatibility: Works seamlessly with Cisco devices - no driver issues or compatibility problems. Plug and play right out of the box. Quality: The cable feels sturdy and well-made. The connectors are solid, and the cable itself doesn't feel flimsy or cheap. The 6ft length gives me enough reach to work comfortably without excess cable getting in the way. Ease of use: Literally plug it in and it works. No complicated setup, no software to install, no troubleshooting required. It's as straightforward as a cable can get. Value for money: Considering how essential this cable is for anyone doing network configuration work with modern USB-C laptops, the price is very reasonable. Much cheaper than dealing with dongles and adapters, and it just works reliably every time. Bottom line: If you have a modern laptop with only USB-C ports and need to console into network equipment, this is a must-have tool. It does exactly what it's supposed to do with no fuss. Sometimes the best review is simply: it works. Recommended for IT professionals making the switch to USB-C only devices.

Works great for resetting TP-Link Omada switch
After updating the firmware on my OC200 TP-Link SD Network controller, an older TP-Link managed switch that had previously been adopted by that controller, could not be adopted. Tried the default admin/admin but no luck. TP-Link managed switches do not have the little reset button that you press with a paperclip thru the tiny hole on the back of the case. If you can't factory-reset the switch, it's a brick. This handy cable, along with the suggested Tera Term 5 SSH client (I hear putty will work too but didn't try it), got me in and factory reset the switch in literally 30 seconds using an old Win10 laptop. PCs and laptops haven't come with 9-pin serial ports for many years now. Most tech enthusiasts keep at least an old laptop with a serial port around for exactly this scenario. I got rid of mine years ago. So when this scenario happened, I was out of luck. This cable is one of those "If you need it, you need it" type things. For how cheap it is, it's a good thing to keep around. It just worked, no drivers necessary.

Great console cable - works with Jupiter SRX-300 firewall
Got this to use with a Jupiter SRX-300 firewall and it works great. The flat cable makes it easy to make sure the cable is not getting too twisted up and 10ft is plenty long to reach from the rack to a laptop.

YES. YOU can use this with the NEWER Macs.
Works PERFECTLY for a new MAC. I tested this consoling in to a Cisco Switch as well as a Palo Firewall.

Life Saver
This thing has saved my butt so many times, I'm back to buy a second so I have an extra! Never had a problem, and always ends up being used in particularly hairy situations where I don't have time to troubleshoot a cable.

Finally able to fix my network issues
When I started my latest job, it was plagued with networking issues from someone who should never have touched it to begin with. This cable was the solution. With it, I was able to take back control over my switches and reconfigure them so the network stopped trying to tear itself apart. Its long length made connecting to switches with rear serial ports a breeze, while also not needing to hold my laptop 2 inches from the device. Its odd color was actually a bonus, as it makes finding it in my networking base fairly easy. Great value, 10/10

Intel Mac to Cisco Firepower with no trouble.
I use an app on my mac called Serial. I plugged the USB-C into my mac, jacked into the console port of the Cisco Firepower firewall, and was immediately able to connect. The Serial app recognized it as `FT232R USB UART — FTDI — SN A99PZHUI — /dev/cu.usbserial-A99PZHUI` ... so have fun with that. Cable is well constructed, as good or better than the standard Cisco console cables. I wish the RJ45 had a boot so the clip doesn't break off in my bag ... because that's where this thing is going to live out its days, mostly.

Inexploitable !
