Classic Lionel Diesel train set with a TNG theme
A part of Lionel's Lioncheif Ready to run line, the set comes with an F-Series diesel painted to resemble The Enterprise D, and three cars representing 10-Forward, sickbay, and the holodeck. The set also comes enough of their fast track to make an oval, power brick and a remote used to run the train and (Star Trek) sounds. It is also controllable using the lionchief app. It's a fun O-gague set and is a good entry point to model trains or a fun addition to a growing collection.

Luv it!
It was everything I had hoped it would be. The size and weight of the trains is amazing. The way it runs and lights up I love it!

Definitely NOT the Quality of Lionel Trains I grew up with!
DISLIKES: The bell is the Red Alert Klaxon Sound, the Horn is the sound the Transporter makes wyhen beaming folks off or on the spaceship. This DID NOT IMPRESS ME, I expected the Horn to be an ACTUAL DIESEL HORN, as well as the bell to be an ACTUAL BELL SOUND, very disappointed with these sounds as I expected these 2 sounds to still be PROTOTYPICAL to how a REAL DIESEL HORN and BELL sounds on the 1:1 trains! Also, the messages played are a joke, you ONLY GET RANDOM MESSAGES from Captain Picard when the train is stopped, when operating/running, it's two messages, one asking Mr. LaForge to use Warp Speed, and the other saying Make it so, and that's it unless the train IS NOT MOVING, that wasl another disappointment with this sound system. There have been other reviewers stating that Captain Picard messages are too low and can't be heard over the sound of the diesel sounds, that was not the case with mine, the diesel sounds are so low, AND NOT ADJUSTABLE, but you can increase or decrease Captain Picard's vocals, so I could clearly hear the messages, but the diesel motor sounds were totally washed out. And the Lionel track has a bad echo type effect, that when the train is running around the loop of track, the noise is so loud, it drowns out ALL SOUNDS coming from the train, no matter what they are. It just sounds like metal scraping against metal, very annoying.Final dislike was the fact I had to DISASSEMBLE the locomotive and repair it after the first few loops around the track, not only did one of the rubber tires come off one of the wheels and hang up the locomotive, causing it to derail and short, but one of the motor screws that holds the motor in place FELL OUT and the only way to fix this, as the motor was now loose and would not operate the train, sounded like gears being stripped out, so now the train wouldn't even run. Managed to get the loco shell off and motor reseated and screwed back in to hold it in place, but seems some damage had already been done, as it still sounded like gears stripping when I tried to operate the train again. I finally got it moving again, but I doubt this locomotive is going to be much use, as the gearing has probably been stripped due to this issue of the motor mount screw falling out.The quality of this Lionel train, being made in China, is NOWHERE up to the quality one expects from Lionel, a company that was FOUNDED in America and was BUILT BY AMERICANS. Manufacturers, PLEASE quit building your stuff in China, as we are getting nothing but JUNK from that country now. I'm sorry, but everything I have gotten labelled, Made in China, lately has been just that, JUNK!Other dislikes, only the Holodeck car is illuminated, it's cute, a train running inside a train, however, the motor that gives the Holodeck car it's animation, is loud and obnoxious, it's too bad there isn't a switch on this car to turn that motor off, as after a few trips around the loop, I ended up taking it off the tracks and set it aside, yes, IT IS that annoying. And it's a pity that the other two cars ARE NOT lighted, as that would have definitely improved their appearance, as it is, very difficult to see what they are when the train is in operation being unlit. Lighting these cars would have made for a better visual and experience with them while in motion.I just couldn't find much to really like about this train once I got the item in my hands and could see, touch and feel it, I am not a die hard trekkie, but I thought this would be a nice train to add to my collection of trains since I collect both G and O gauge trains, but this one was the biggest disappointment in all the trains I ever purchased. The only thing I did like was the silver, metallic look of the train and railcars, other than that, this set is more of a piece that should be relegated to a mantle top or shelf for viewing purposes, maybe supply power to play the sounds in it from there, but as an actual train to operate on a layout, no, the sounds are out of sync with how a real train operates since the horn and bell sounds ARE NOT to prototype, if there had been a switch to select normal bell/horn over the "spaceship" sounds, perhaps it would have found operating space on my O gauge layout, sadly, this train will not.And the cost of this train is far too high, I paid over $350 for this thing, and it's not worth it. If I could have seen this train set in person and checked it out BEFORE I purchased it, I would nothave purchased it due to the sounds, unlighted cars and the horrible roaring echoing metal sounds it makes as it traverses around the track supplied. Just far too noisy for my liking when it kills all the other sounds YOU SHOULD be hearing when the train is running on the tracks. No, I can not, in all honesty, recommend this train to anyone EXCEPT possibly a Star Trek Paraphernalia Collector, and then only set it up as a static display piece as noted previously.I won't be returning it, just too difficult for me to do, so I will regulate this train as a possible display piece in my layout somewhere, set on some rails and fenced in, as it won't be ran again.P.S. Train manufacturers, please add SMOKE UNITS to YOUR DIESELS, almost all Diesels smoke, even the hybrid electrics smoke, and sometimes just as profusely as their diesel fueled non-electric cousins. The only ones that don't smoke are full electrics, like trolley's or other similar Canterbury overhead wired or 3rd rail electric only locomotives (unless they catch fire).

Rail cars don’t light up
Only 1 car lights up. I think that’s disappointing considering the polar express cars all light up.

Not the quality you’ll expect from Lionel.
Not impressed at all especially coming from Lionel. The 3 box cars are cheaply made only one lights up 👎 engine is ok looks good with lights. Another disappointment is that the engine is loud to the point that you can barely hear captain Picar voice. Next and most disappointment the remote very cheap plastic to make it worst the decals that mean nothing. They are forgetting what made them great in the first place DETAILS especially small details like on their older models. I have a 1952 model complete set and it is amazing the details on it. Oh well I will definitely do a lot more research when I buy another Lionel set.
