What a waste of Prime customers time
Honestly don't know where Amazon gets such drivel. Couldn't get past the first five minutes. What a waste of Prime customers time. Banana Joe is wholly unlikable.

Banana man
Joe lives on the Amazon in South America. There he is a local legend who supplies the people of his nearby communities with bananas, until one fateful day when some banana magnate from the big city shows up and starts behaving like the man from Del Monte's evil twin, claiming that he has sole banana harvesting rights..Booo...Hisss...As you can imagine Joe is none too pleased with this and makes it clear, but unfortunately the law is not on Joe's side, and his only course of action is to take his huge sweating armpits and uncouth ways, and travel to the city so that he might obtain a copy of his birth certificate and get himself a special banana selling permit..Easy right??Well not quite, because alas Joe is a total bumpkin! And once in the city chaos soon ensues as Joe tries to get his head around this very alien, environ. While the hoods who work for the banana magnate, will stop at nothing in order to prevent Joe from getting his permit...Top banana this (sorry!), I really enjoyed it. Spencer is well cast as... errr.... Bud Spencer; complete with his usual grumpy big guy routine, who hammer blows the baddies ~ more often than not corrupt officials, bullies or mobsters ~ so that the under dogs of society don't get pushed around any longer. Here it's a formula that works really well given the film's premise, and although there aren't as many punch ups (there are a few!) as you'd find in some of Spencer's other movies, there are still enough running sight gags and silly moments to keep his fans entertained throughout.Sure the plot's daft and the film itself is total nonsense, but for family entertainment you can't beat it, even if some of the jokes seem a little inappropriate, strange or clunky when compared with their modern equivalents.Personally I'd take this every day of the week though, irrespective of a few flaws, it's quaint naivety really shining through, especially during the moment where Joe finally gets fed up with the bureaucrats down at the city hall and snaps... a definite highlight.Any fans of Bud or Terrence, will certainly want this in their collection, likewise any fans of Nacho Libre will also too, probably. The German Blu Ray is a great print! It comes with a dubbed English language track, which unfortunately has the immovable German subs burnt on to it (which is a bit distracting at times!), but like I said the print is worth it. The other extras are a few different Banana Joe trailers and possibly a making of, but which was in German, so I didn't watch it..4.5/5
