Fovitec - 1x 28 inch Bowens Mount Photography Beauty Dish w/Honeycomb Grid - [Aluminum][Lightweight][EZ Snap-On Grid][Strobe & Monolight Compatible]

Not super-cheaply made, but not the sturdiest product. However, it will last under normal wear and tear.My problem is that is DOES NOT fit either of my Paul C Buff/Alien Bees 22" dishes. It appears to be more than an 1/8" too big, so it won't pop in. I have had a string of frustrating product and shipping issues with Amazon, so I decided to just keep it. I have to use gaffer's tape to position and hold the grid in place (major hassle). Once secured this way, it is totally usable. But, I would not recommend purchasing this grid unless you're buying their (Fovitec) dish.

Purchased the 28" Beauty Dish with grid in Bowens mountThe Beauty Dish includes an elastic white cover (for softer light, somewhat similar to a softbox), the grid (if purchasing that version) and the metal plate insert. Some assembly required (attaching the metal plate) but it's literally a 15-second job and requires no tools.The beauty dish (at least the bowens mount) is a single solid piece. The bowens mount is attached to the beauty dish itself (I mention this as some beauty dishes use a removable plate to switch mounts). My previous beauty dish used one of the detachable mounts and did not hold up well over time (using the dish puts a lot of stress on the connection). I feel that the metal (albeit light metal) mount on the StudioPRO will hold up much better.. you do lose the flexibility in changing to another mount later on though.The inside of the dish is a nice white (this seems to be a newer trend over the silver-painted dishes). I can't say just yet which I prefer (Ive owned both). I imagine the Silver reflects more light, but most do prefer the white inside.The beauty dish grid attaches very securely with 3 tight clips. My previous beauty dish used a similar clip method, but loosened up due to the flexible metal allowing it to be re-shaped. I feel the StudioPro version (which uses much tighter clips) will hold up much better over time and prevent the dish from falling off while angled.The grid itself seems to be of "decent quality". It feels heavy and it's got a good thickness to it, but the lighting bump will damage the honeycomb pattern. Even in the bag, I bumped the dish and the grid was damaged. I think this is mostly true of all beauty dish grids though.On to the bag itself.. Unfortunately it's not included. The bag itself is a bit pricey, but I would recommend it.the bag is a nice, sturdy material with a small amount of padding. The bag has 3 zippers: one for the main compartment, one for a small compartment to hold the grid and one zipper to compact the entire bag. Inside the main compartment is a small velcro pouch to hold the diffuser.The bag itself is fairly high quality and I would recommend it over the "wreath bag" that most people use.. it's a great fit or the dish.The bag also has an included strap. Unfortunately, at least on the 28" it's a bit cumbersome to use. Over the shoulder doesn't really work due to the large size. I almost wish it had a handle on the bag or even a backpack-style strap. In the end, for storage or transport, it's great to have. the bag is all black except for a white STUDIOPRO logo.Fovitec has been great and very responsive; I purchased the 28" but received the 22" diffuser. They were quick to have the diffuser replaced and to me the very next day. Definitely going to be a fovitec customer for life.I'd compare the quality to (or better than) the Fotodiox Pro products (their higher end products)

Well for under $60 I really cant complain much. If you dont drop it while putting it on or off, consider yourself lucky, as it will last. One drop and it will be done. I have had the smaller sizes 22" dishes and even the pricey thicker material models, if you drop from over 12feet, you are gonna damage it. But these even 5 feet this will get damaged.I baught the Fovitec 28" dish as well, so it fits on it well. Snaps are a bit tight, and again, I dont know how may snaps on and off it can take, but you can leave it on as well. Now it needs a bag for it.Again, for the price, this is great. If you pay anything over $60 or so, you may as well pay $120+ and get a sturdy and thicker quality material.Shipping was fast and no hassle, simple safe package.

IMHO: The beauty dish is decently constructed except for the reflector setup that uses wires (very cheap & Cheesy) rather than threaded solid rods that make installing the reflector dish and keeping it properly installed and in place a real PIA. Most reflector disc have threaded rods to securely fix the reflector in place. I would look for a properly designed and constructed disc before buying this one. The price of these beauty dishes is not less than a much better designed and constructed beauty dish. Real shame, they got 90% of the product right and ruined it with a poor reflector disc design. The defuser cloth, grid and optional case are decent - just the reflector disc setup is a boondoggle IMHO.

Material is better than average. Pocket is handy for flat things or diffusion sock if you don't stuff it in the dish itself.Fits the fotodiox 22" beauty dish with grid perfectly. Expansion zipper is a plus for giving a little extra room if need be.Strap is sufficient since contents are light weight.Not the most robust protection being soft and lacking padding and such, but for storage and transporting to gigs, quite sufficient.Overall, perfect for its use and a good value. Would recommend if your one who takes care of your stuff anyway.

Haven't been out on gigs with this yet. I needed a case for my beauty dish and this was way better than the Hensel ones I'd used in the past. It has light padding and a pocket for the shower cap and grid, although I just leave mine intact in the beauty dish. I use the pockets to carry Cinefoil and gels. The terrible logo shown in the product picture has thankfully been changed and is far more subtle and easier on the eyes.

Seems like a solid beauty dish except it's not a perfect circle. I purchased a Fovitec 22" Grid to use with this beauty dish.. it goes on but you have to flex the dish and really stretch the grid's clips to secure it in place. Also, the beauty dish's inner plate isn't firmly secured to the dish. It's held in by tension and I had to bend them out to create enough tension to hold the plate in. Would have preferred something secured in place with a screw. Hopefully it will hold up.

Sturdy, large but not so large you can’t get it through doors, does the job very well fits perfectly with Bowen’s if definitely buy again, I work this thing hard and it doesn’t let me down

wow this dish is great, I expected to receive a rather thin aluminium dish, easily dented as you see so often in studios and on YouTube, but instead this dish is anything but ! It's nice and "thick" and coated with a "frosted" paint so future scuffs will not show up quickly. Highly recommended !

Excellent beauty dish, I’ve used it twice and been over the moon with it.

Wish I bought one of these sooner.
