Love how easy to use, and feature rich this unit is.
I added this to a panel for trickle charging my car. Works fantastic, and I love the flashing lights indicating the status. My old controller was garbage compared to this one. My car hasn't reached full charge so I cant speak to the auto shutdown, but it def. limits to the indicated voltage. My old one let 20volts pass. Built in dip switch timers are great but I haven't tested them yet as I don't have a setup requiring timed settings. I'd buy this one again for other projects.

Polarity review...
This works great, just be aware that they have all three SAE connectors set up for output. This means that the shielded connector side is meant to be positive.However....The solar side should be an INLET, meaning that the shielded side on the device needs to be negative. In this way, your solar panel output SAE connector will be set up correctly.Long and short being... if you get this device, and plug in your panel and find it doesn't work, you probably need to reverse the inlet polarity from your panel.

Product Works As Advertised
This little controller was easy to connect and get operational in minutes. To ease installation, I'd recommend buying a package of 3 SAE Quick Disconnect plugs (https://a.co/d/4Zl3V4a). Otherwise, you'll be visiting the store. As referenced in another review, PAY VERY CLOSE ATTENTION to the polarity, which is clearly marked on the plug labels. For that matter, the Amazon plugs I referenced appear to be reversed in color when connected, but are indeed correct. That is no fault of the controller. This controller charges a remote solar system that maintains a battery for a trolling motor and fishing dock light. All batteries remain topped off at recommended voltages and the dock light is photo-controlled by the controller. The dock lights come on at sunset and remains on for 4 hours (user changeable). The charger appears weather robust, but only time will tell.

Mean Time Between Failure
This component seems to fail at ~ 18 months. I'm on # 3.

Great solar controller
This is my second one, hence the low weather proof rating. The main board is potted but somehow moisture was able to get in the first one and destroy it, it did last two years and was cheap enough to replace. This one fired my solar panels to my battery right up.

Test battery voltage some defective
The first one I got was defective it didn’t work the following day as if nighttime cause it to permanently stop working unless I unplug and plugged it back in then it worked. Despite solar light flashing green it wasn’t charging after first night followed by day. I contacted seller who’s name Mason. The first question he asked was kind of random and he said is this for a lipo battery and at that point I knew he didn’t know what he was talking about and he didn’t offer to replace it. He thinks I’m going to pull out the batter from a tight tray in a atv to tell him battery specs not happening here. I was within the return and got a replacement and this one is fine for now for my agm ATV battery. What I don’t like about this one besides the customer service is this model has 3 bright leds including 2 that stay in all night and this causes parasitic voltage drop at night and this might not matter in warm climates but it does matter in winter here in New England especially after several cloudy days because these lights cause a voltage drop. Test it with multimeter or volt gauge often before the return window to be sure you didn’t get a defective one. Just because solar light is flashing green doesn’t mean it’s working check especially after first night. Also, there is a discrepancy in the owners manual and website here. In manual it states to use in a cool dry location only and it’s advertised here as water resistant design. The unit does have thick wires and looks well made on outside and I thought it was worthy enough to give a second one a try. I will update this review after a year if it works good.

Beware Of Your Polarity Needs
I didn't notice that the three different models listed are for the different connector polarities.I had to get adapters for my input and output for my application. In my limited testing, this unit seems to work really well for the small price. I basically wanted to try out a cheap-ish Harbor Fright portable solar panel on my travel trailer. So far, so good.

Unit started smoking and fizzing as soon as it was plugged in.
Unit started smoking and fizzing as soon as it was plugged in. Label shows Negative and positive on cables but are wired opposite then what the battery and solar panel cables are.
