This is a really good book to read
Alexander King has been declared dead for the last year, he was a secret for the CIA ,only 2 people know he is really alive, his handler Sam, and CIA Mary who is killed while talking to King. King is an assassin for the CIA and the action in this book is non stop. I’m starting book 2 now and I’m really looking for all the action, GREAT BOOK

Dead Men Tell no Tales
For Alexander King being “dead” had its perks. He can do things other CIA assets cant! When a family chooses to destroy his USA, he fights back furiously with his trusted “handler” Sam! Don’t miss the action in this first installment!

great read
Fast moving exciting and plenty of drama. Keeps you wondering what is going to happen next and who is really who they actually are.

GOOD READ
It would have been a much better read if king was introduced and how he became an agent.A little bit of background

Still reading the book
David Balacci has a way of drawing you into the story in the first chapter. He has become another of my favorite authors.

violent
I feel bad being critical of someone’s hard work however, this was just too violent for me on a thin plot.

Improving but kind of rediculous at times
I have a lot of thoughts on this one. I have read all of King books by Wright, and they are usually pretty bad but still entertaining. This one was different. It loses a lot of the charm the previous books, and the misfit characters, which is both good and bad. I thought it was good because it takes a more serious approach that offers a little more realism, but is still not very realistic.Xander King is basically a superhero and everybody knows it and how great he is, which is the most ridiculous part of all the books and though it is less in this one than the others, is still very present. I think that if Mr. Wright would let us decide how great he is like Lee Child does with Jack Reacher, it would be easier to like him. I feel as though I don't have to like him because everyone worships him. This book does a better job than the past and credit is deserved. My other biggest issue is the extensive, unrelenting, 'thinking' segments in the middle of the action and the justification for strange actions explained by more thinking. Patriotism and reminders for how great Xander and Sam are don't let up either. The 'thinking' doesn't come across as someone as experienced as Xander is supposed to be at all.The story isn't bad and the pace is pretty good. The characters are okay. Not a lot of depth, but this is a thriller and many others don't have a lot of depth either, so I won't be too harsh on that. The writing has much improved over time and I found myself entertained.Mr. Wright's work is getting better and I already think it is better than another mainstream bestseller I read recently that was ridiculous. I am glad he continues with the series and that changes for the better are being made. Good work Mr. Wright.

Good plot, bad narration
First off, it's not a book 1 of the series but the continuation of Xander King series. There are over half a dozen characters who seem to be carried forward from previous series who'll only confuse the readers who haven't read the previous series. Secondly, though the author managed to keep the story edge of seat all the time, the narration is very confusing. Everyone's double crossing everyone else and the reason not very clear. I read it only because the story looks interesting. The next book seem interesting too but I'm not sure if I can give this author a second chance soon.

Enjoyed
I liked this book and look forward to the series. I am both annoyed and intrigued that we still don’t know the full backstory. I am liking that as most fist books are all backstory and no story. This one has a good pace of action and logical leaps. I look forward to more.

Covert Action
A car bomb and a shootout in London's Underground kickstart this terror tale. Deceased CIA spy X and former British spy, Sam, work together to find a terrorist nest and destroy it. But will they be in time to stop the next wave of attacks on America? Most of the story takes place in and around Athens, where X must finish off the remnants of the Maragos family before moving on to the terrorist organization's leadership structure. A lot of betrayal and weasels in this one. The big problem of any spy is, who can you trust?

Not Bad, Not Perfect, More Good Than Not
The plot is fine, characterisation is reasonable and it's quite a captivating read. My only negative report is that it is so very formulaic. I know all novels of this genre and calibre are formulaic but this one actually ticks every plot device box, every secret agent meme is included and there's more than one femme fatale. The girls are gorgeous and the guys are hunks.I am sure I'm being harsh for no reason, I just felt it not quite hot the spot. Maybe I should explain with this: I was born in England, I like Irish whisky, Scotch whisky, French cognac and London gin; I also like Kentucky bourbon and Mexican tequila. I do not need to sneer at all of those not gin, not English, I can enjoy all equally. Certain American characters only love the spirit of their origin, as in this book. I served in the infantry, my favourite drink is wine not beer but I can still shoot straight though I'm not macho.I will try a few more in the series, perhaps they'll ride above average.
