US faculty perspective here ... This text is "just right" for the right class. Leans a bit academic, and it's practical, so it is better for classes that are in programs supporting these aims. I don't see this text as useful for MBAs, for instance. Instead, I used this text to teach in a masters' class in business (not MBA) that, in part, functioned to help students digest academic journals while at the same time write more practically-oriented research reports (think: consultant reports, action researchers). It also would work in a DBA program, as it is considerably lighter than anything in a PhD program, yet it gives enough of the basics for a DBA student to do what is needed ... bridge theory and practice with sound research practices. This is an excellent text, provided is matched to the right class. In the USA, it's not right for many -- if not most -- graduate classes in business. Nevertheless, it can play a role in some class, and I was glad I used it in mine. The newer version has received some trash views. As such, I believe it was necessary to add a faculty voice to the reviews, one that focused more on purpose & content, rather than condition & page length. Once I receive a copy of the newer version, I'll add my voice to the reviews of the updated textbook.
