Rechargeable Battery Pack for the Leapfrog Leapster
Can't tell you how long I looked for one of these (at a reasonable price). Amazon pulled through for me-while I could never find it "cheap" enough for my taste, this was definitely reasonable. This is WELL WORTH the $$! We've had the Leapster for nearly two years now and I can't tell you how many times I've had to change batteries. If I'd realized how much the Leapster was going to suck the life out of batteries, I would have purchased this much sooner. The batteries don't just die while he's playing, but when he's not playing too - that's been very frustrating. My son can not only play with this battery pack "forever" before it needs to recharge, but if the game needs recharged while he's playing, I just connect it to the base and plug it in and he's able to play while it charges. The dock has a long enough cord (for our home) to sit comfortably in a chair and play while it's plugged in.The only issue I have with it is that it is difficult to disconnect the base from the Leapster when it is done charging. I don't know if there's a trick for it or not, but I always feel like I may break something or lose my grip when the game and the base actually release. Fortunately, I'm not recharging all the time.Happy Shopping!

LeapFrog customer service is horrible
LeapFrog has horrible customer service. I tried to call to exchange this product (got the pink one and needed the blue). They were unfriendly and very rude. I asked to speak to a manager and got the run around. I never did get to exchange the product. I would have given it a 5 since the product did what it was supposed to do, but the experience I had with LeapFrog left a bad taste in my mouth. I won't be buying any of their products ever again.

Must have with Leapster!
We have two Leapster 2, so bought 2 recharging stations. Would have been nice to get just a second battery, but ordered our 2nd one about a week before the person posted about getting a replacement battery! O-well.We bought our first Leapster 2 and recharge station for Chrismas 2008, both are still doing great! When we needed a second Leapster for this past Christmas (2009) I didn't hesitate to get the second recharge station. Has worked out too, we travel to visit family and take one recharge station with us, leave one home. Works out since we have left it a grandma's house before!Battery life is more than enough. Have never had issue with that.I do agree they are hard to get out of station. I always forget which end I'm suppose to pull out first. But this is a minor to me, feel the product's benefits far outway this little frustration.

Works but not as described
The directions state that the green light will flash when you put the Leapster onto the base until it starts to charge when the light will then just stay on. The light is suppose to shut off when it is done charging. Since I've bought it the light always flashes regardless of if the Leapster is sitting on it or not. It does appear to charge the Leapster 2 as my son uses it for an hour or two everyday since he got it a few weeks ago and it has not gone dead yet so it must be charging. It is just annoying that it doesn't display when it is charging and done like it is suppose to.

No more batteries!!!
This is a must for any Leapster 2 owner. I was buying batteries almost weekly just to keep this thing going. Then I bought the A/C adapter. I went though two of those before I decided to put the Leapster away. Going over my kids' Christmas list I stumbled upon the recharging station. All I can say is this is a great investment. After changing the battery pack, the base station then snaps hard into the back. This does make it difficult to detach the Leapster but the kids don't seem to mind. I've even seen them playing it with the base still attached. So glad I found this.

Definitely worth the money!
My older son has the Leapster Explorer, and the recharger, and I knew as soon as I bought my 4yr old the Leapster 2 that this recharging station would be necessary and I was right! We didn't buy it immediately and after 2 weeks, I had already spent $10 on regular batteries for the game system. I could only imagine what that would cost with a year of regular use. So, $20 on a recharging system to save all that money on regular Alkaline batteries, is definitely worth my sanity, and my bank account!

Exactly what we needed. Charges really quickly. The adapter we received with it wouldn't fit any of my home (standard) home outlets but we just use our other adapter cord and it works just fine. It was definitely a worthy buy considering all the money we've saved on batteries.

must have for leapster 2!
Just bought our 4 1/2 yr old the Leapster 2 and got a good deal on this recharger as well. We had a 14 hour car drive for the holidays and this was a HUGE help! She played almost 6 hours with her new toy and it still held its charge! I believe I read it can be charged up to 300 times, which seems like quite a lot for the price if you ask me! Takes about 4 hours to charge each time, so a great thing to do at night (or maybe open up and charge before you give the gift). Recommend!
