Does the job for my fountain
The media could not be loaded. I installed a 4 x 4 underground basin. It holds nearly 100 gallons. I can pretty much put any type of fountain on top of it, but chose a fountain. I didn’t need too much flow. This pump works great with the rise, and actually has more volume than I needed. I was able to install a valve on the line leading to the fountain, adjusting it down to fit my needs. If I ever replace the fountain with a large bowl later, and need more volume, this pump will handle that also. It was such a good deal I bought two, and keeping one as a back up.

External water pump, water fountain
Upgraded water fountain using this one as an external pump - works fantastic! Plenty of power, whisper quiet, long power cord. Solid buildMakes fountain maintenance (have multi level fountain with originally submerged pump at lowest level) now a real pleasure - just pull hose from pump and let drain into garden. Can't get any easier.Be aware this pump comes with no fittings, so you will need to plan trip to a hardware store. Both ends threaded (male & female), so very easy. Buy 2 fittings, 2 hose clams, attach hoses and you're done. Used Epoxy to seal entry/exit point to/from fountain. Works flawless overall.

An old standby.
A great ol pump that can be made into a mag 3,5, or 7 with a combination of two more volutes and 2 more impellers. In other words you take this mag 2 and buy a mag 3/5 impeller and now you have a mag 3. Now buy a mag 5/7 volute and you have a mag 5. now buy a mag 7 impeller and you have a mag 7. The mags 2-7 have always had this versatility. To verify a simple test with a kilowatt meter and timing the output into a 5 gallon bucket for 15 seconds. Then multiply by 4 for your gallons per minute. Then multiply by 60 for your gallons per hour. Pre-filter the pump with a large sponge filter and apply some silicone grease to the shaft and rubber o ring and rubber shaft end pieces and the pump should last a long time. parts are cheap. This series of pumps are still made in America.

BEST POND PUMP EVER! But, where's the sponge filter shown on the box?
This is not only the best small pond pump I have ever used, it is the ONLY brand and model that has ever worked well for me. My first one lasted several years (and would have lasted longer had our mountain critters not chewed the cord), and when I replaced it I bought 2 so that I would have a spare as these are hard/impossible to find retail. One complaint: the 'sponge' filter shown in this picture was included with my first one, but the last 2 do not include the sponge filter. So I am nursing my ancient filters because these are the only pond pumps that I've tried where the filter is a snap to disassemble and clean, and the filter itself is perfectly effective. I could not find replacement filters on-line during my last order.

Horrible - does not perform anyway close to rating.
This was purchased a month ago and installed today - just a couple of days too late to return it. I think it is junk. It is supposed to move 250 gallons of water an hour. I doubt if it is moving 50 gallons. It is on a fountain and the old worn out pump worked better but I threw it away when I ordered this one. Stupid me! Expensive mistake but I will order another brand and get the fountain working correctly.

Great pond pump
Great pond pump. This is sour second one. We always have a back up since we live on an island and the pond needs to be filtered 24/7. The pump is very reliable. It clears the pond well. Our trade winds drop debris in the pond daily and the water is always clear with this pump. Our pond i 2 feet deep by 10 feet long and 4 feet wide. This pump also pushes water from the pond thru a smaller hydroponic watercress pond. No problems at all. Easy to put in place.

Effective
Not a bad pump but be very careful when you tighten the fittings as the housing will crack very easily
