RALEIGHGNJ116 - Short Reach Handlebar Stem with 180mm Long 22.2mm Quill Fitting in Silver

I bought this to shorten the reach on my daughter's 24" Trek which has a 1" diameter stem. The diameter of this stem is actually 22.2mm which will require an adapter. Apparently, stem measurements refer to the fork hole diameter, not the diameter of the stem itself (they need to be a little smaller in order to fit and give room for the wedge to expand). Even so, it's still a good deal and really the only option I could find for a short reach quill stem.

Just what I needed. I am getting older and my body does not like to be bent over riding all day. Being 6'3" tall I tend to have a larger bike and am stretched out more. This allowed me to bring the handlebars back a good 2" from my stock stem placement. This gave me a more upright riding position. It is a lot more comfortable for me now and I am able to go on longer rides with little to no back and hand pain.

Getting older and wanted to try moving my handlebars up and back. This does both as it has a good long stem. The price was good with no shipping cost so a good deal for me.

Does what it says on the tin. For anyone interested, the reach on this item is 40mm so very short compared to a lot of others. However, the height of the item is very tall and adjustable. This is fantastic if you want to be in a more upright position to ease back and neck pain like I do. Great if you feel you are always overreaching for the bars. It's also much easier to fit and disassemble than my old stem. My old stem, to take the handlebar off I had to take the brake levers and everything else off the bar to slide the handlebar out. With this in future, if for any reason I wanted to remove the handlebar I can do so fully with everything intact as this has a fully removable clamp for the handlebar. All in all, good price quick delivery great item.

I fitted this stem to my Bobbin Blackbird to bring the handlebars forward a tad as I felt like I was having to reach too far forward. It was easy to fit and has made my riding position much more comfortable. Item was well packaged and arrived quickly.

This is exactly what I was looking for, it has shortened the reach on a classic old Raleigh racer for my daughter- she is very pleased 👍

Allowed me to use my bicycle much more comfortably.
