Are you wrestling with doubts, struggling with your faith?--this book is for you
This timely little book is a must read for those of us who wrestle with what it means to doubt; those of us who struggle deeply with concerns that this must be a symptom of our lack of faith. The author takes a look at the relationship between doubt and faith using one of the Minor Prophets from the Old Testament, Habakkuk. He walks us through Habakkuk's conversation with God as he wrestles with injustice, suffering, God's judgement and the prospering of evil. Who among us isn't wrestling with these questions coming out of 2020? I work and minister in Haiti where corruption and injustice is so deeply rooted in its systems that it can be hard to hold on to hope let alone faith. Like Habakkuk, I find myself having some questions for God! The author of this book uses Habakkuk's experience and conversation with God to guide us towards expressing our questions and doubt faithfully. He shows us the importance of the relational and remembering aspects of Habakkuk's expression of his doubt helping us reframe a problem that often goes unaddressed because we are ashamed of it.Luke BrouwerField Director, Hope Community Project

Cultivating a Heart for Questions that Matter
Let's just note something basic at the outset - even if you're a reader of many books you probably don't have many on the Biblical book of Habakkuk, the remarkable but too often ignored minor prophet of Israel. Same here. So when I heard that Travis Scott was writing this, I was eager to get my hands on it. I was not disappointed. Scott has penned a book that isn't just informative but incredibly helpful for those desiring to form communities where questions and those who ask them are welcome. Against the masks of faux certainty, the message of Habakkuk gets down in the dirt with our doubts. Scott ably demonstrates why and how these doubts and questions that trouble us can become pathways to authentic, humble faith that endures the unanswered and unanswerable. More than this, those looking to nourish the ethos of an authentic and open approach to the hearts of both skeptics and stumbled believers, even those ashamed of the fact that they wrestle with doubt, will find in these pages an excellent example of creating places where truth can be encountered and embraced, even with faithful doubt. Get it. Read it. Share it, Five Stars.

The Book to Read if You are Struggling
If you’ve ever wanted to yell at God and say, “What are you doing?!” when you look at your life or world events, this book is for you. In fact, this is the perfect book to be reading as 2020 comes to an end. It’s not just a good, solid, biblically sound, but also very readable book (and it is all of those things), it is a good book for our times. It’s a reminder that God is good and that He is good even when we can’t see all that he is doing. His explanation of the difference between doubting in faith and cynical doubt is excellent. It’s freeing.Another bonus: it isn’t overly long. It’s about 100 pages. My personal pet peeve with Christian books is that they are usually 60-75 pages too long. Scott says what needs to be said. And stops. He explains the text of Habakkuk, applies it to our lives well, and then he shuts up.I’ve already bought it for someone dear to me and it’ll be a go to for anyone struggling with doubts in the future.

Great Book by a Thoughtful Pastor
Habakkuk has long been one of my favorite books of the Bible. I have always loved how God invites, even inspires, Habakkuk's complaints against the sin and injustice around him.My already deep appreciation of Habakkuk has only been deepened by Travis Scott's excellent book, Faithful Doubt. In the book, Travis shows how God is not threatened by our doubts amidst the brokenness of the world. Rather, God invites us to doubt, even showing us how to do that faithfully. This is not a commentary on Habakkuk. You'll get no verse by verse parsing of the Hebrew text. Instead, you'll get to walk alongside a thoughtful pastor as he shows you how this short book with an unpronounceable name has everything to do with the world you live in right now. Highly, highly recommended!

Faith and doubt are not "either/or" but, rather, "both/and”.
As a person with a short attention span and little time to read, this book was helpful because it cuts right to the chase. Doubts don't need to derail your life: they are a natural part of faith and usually lead to growth where/when you'd least expect it. Travis' insight was particularly helpful in light of the challenges that the past year of pandemic-ing has brought to life. The onus is on me to reread it when the rollercoaster of life's circumstances takes another turn, my questions surprise me, and I think I should be controlling the ride.

Accessible - Succinct - Practical
Doubt in the Christian life can be weighty. Thankfully, Travis Scott has written a book that is accessible, succinct, and practical. Anyone - Christians young and old, as well as those exploring the faith - should be able to pick this book up and find it applicable to their lives. Faithful Doubt is written as though the author is having a conversation with the reader with the goal to take hold of biblical faith in a practical way, while not make excuses for the doubts, pain, and confusion we can all experience. This could be good book for small groups to wrestle though the issues of faithful doubt together.

Readable yet profound, encouraging, inspiring, and freeing. This is a must-read!
I have never written a review on anything before but felt compelled to highly recommend this book. It’s readable yet profound, encouraging, inspiring and freeing. The author highlights the important truth that having doubt is not the opposite of faith but instead a necessary component of our faith and drives us to deeper dependence and trust in God. Using the example of Habakkuk, Travis does an incredible job of walking us through what it looks like to “doubt well” and approach a God who invites us to honestly bring our doubts to him. This is a must read!
