How big is the barrel?

The one I purchased is a 1" barrel. For my hair length, just below my shoulders, it is perfect for either loose ringlets or be achy waves and the curl stays in for hours and hours with hardly any hairspray. I think, if you order right from the Salon Tech website, you may have a choice of sizes. Hope this helps 

What are the electricity specs in terms of voltage/hz? will it work in europe (50hz/22ovolt)?

The specs are 120V with 60Hz and 40W. It would work, but you would need an adapter, since it has a plug for American outlets.
