Ok first off a word about the 5 stars, these books are simple pulp fiction, not high literature. So, would it stack up against A Farewell to Arms? Of course not. But when compared to its peers The Assassins is top shelf.All the ingredients are here for a fun breezy read. Cult of bad guys? Damsel in distress? Action at long odds? A hero who we all wish we could be? Check, Check, Check, and Check.As usual The Phantom’s greatest power is his confidence, and in this yarn, he never falters, never doubts, and never second guesses, except when confronted by two beautiful suitors at once.A fun read, if you like The Phantom novels, you’ll like this one.

I searched for the Hermes Press reprint of this and what I got was the original Avon novel, which I already have. Evan though I had specified the new version. Bait and switch?
