I was looking for a quality reel to start my 5 year old son fishing with and not a toy reel that is not capable of actually catching decent size fish. This reel has worked great for that purpose. It comes with 20lb test line and is very robust. It casts ok for a push button reel and has a pretty strong drag system. He uses it almost exclusively in saltwater and it has held up good so far with just normal rinsing after each trip. He has caught large 18 inch mangrove snapper, slot size redfish, snook, sheepshead, black drum, yellowtail and mutton snapper with no problems.He did hook something one trip that could not be stopped and was likely a large shark. It stripped most of the line out of the reel and destroyed the drag system. I ended up having to buy another one to replace it.Only downside is that since it is so robust, it is also fairly heavy for a reel.

Did not know Zebco made a reel this big, with stainless steel gears and stainless body for saltwater, but found this on Amazon. One lady of our group cannot use standard spinning reels, so went hunting a spincast and found this. Massive reel, smooth as silk and pre-spooled with 20 lb test Cajun mono. I installed it on a Team Diana 7.6 ft flipping rod and it looks great. Should work for surf casting and boating for striper, hybrids and big cats. Hope she can hold on!

This is a big reel but not that heavy as looks put on a berkley big game rod makes a good match easy to use got the reel for $30 and rod for $24 good value for great price.

I bought it 45 days before i needed to use it. I t broke on the third cast. Disappointed in quality of reel. Never had any trouble with zebco before, until this reel. STAY AWAY from this reel. WILL not work on what it is advertised for. Would love to be able to get money back, but it appears that I am outside that window of opportunity.

My husband bought 2 of these for him and our son to go mackerel fishing. They rusted even though they're supposed to be salt water reels.

my wife used this reel with 20lb mono line to catch salmon. Coho first - then spring. she brought in a 14 pound spring with this reel. Took her 20minutes but she did it.

Gli Zebco da spincast sono mulinelli versatili caratterizzati da un ottima frizione.Purtroppo in questo caso è proprio la frizione il punto debole di questo mulinello o almeno di quello arrivato a me.Il problema sta nella regolazione non precisa della frizione.Per il resto è un mulinello robusto adatto per la pesca in mare o di grossi pesci.

I really like closed-face reels, and have several Zebco reels including a couple of 33, a 404 and a 202. They are great for effortlessly throwing lures over and over again, and being able to stop the lure using your thumb and to wind in as soon as it hits the water (I cast with right hand and wind with left hand) are pluses compared to an eggbeater.I thought that the saltwater version would let me do the same thing in the salt, as well as being beefed up for bigger fish. Unfortunately this reel is beefed up a bit too much, making it overly heavy. It is just too heavy to cast effortlessly. In fact it is bordering on clumsy, and I am a big strong bloke. It also sits just a bit too high, making it a bit harder to reach and control with the thumb - and I have 2XL hands too.Sad really, because IMHO there really is a place for a closed face reel with saltwater capability and 20 lb line capability. Make it about 2/3 the weight, and have it sit about 1/2" lower, and it would be a much better reel.
