Great re-release of the VC78 Battle Droid. This is the best 3.75” battle droid that has been produced to date. So in a sense its is great that we get the battle droid as a re-release as I was looking for a few more to build a troop and battle droid auction site prices have been more than double the standard price of a new vintage collection figure. It has many points of articulation, so it can be posed in a wide range of ways. The detail on the figure is fine, the paint job however is minimal, it only has a slight metallic wash. And the antennas are painted silver. I like to take my figures from the packaging, display them and let my son play with them (carefully). But if you keep the figure in its packaging, the presentation is fantastic in the classic vintage black and silver card back. The figure stands reasonably well on its own. But I would still use a figure stand with a peg, because the battle droid feet are typically too small to prevent it from toppling over easily. The joint hinges don’t fold that easily as with earlier incarnations of this figure, so the battle droid should hold its position that you choose. Still the limbs remains a little flimsy given the nature of the figure. As the neck can be pushed into the torso the battle droid can actually be folded up quite neatly. The backpack can be interchanged with an droid commander antenna, which is a great feature. This Vintage Collection figure can be folded in a squatting position to some extend, which is great. But its not a perfect fold yet. I wouldn’t mind if Habro at some stage released a maroon coloured one or other coloured variants of this battle droid, perhaps in a set.I always have mixed feelings about Habro re-releasing some of its Vintage Collection figures. It has taken me quite some effort and investment to collect some of the harder to find figures in the range over the past decade. So its great that some of these become available at normal prices to new collector. And for a troop builder figure like this you can never have enough anyway. But it reduces the value of my collection. Moreover given the limited attention for the VC collection and limited release of new figures, I would have preferred if Hasbro turned its 3.75” production and distribution capacity to some of the Star Wars material that hasn’t seen many figures yet - Rogue One, Solo, Rise of Skywalker, Last Jedi. And I would much appreciate it if some of the video game, cartoon or comic book characters get a as well; The Bad bunch, Iden Versio, Dell Meeko, Cal Kestis, See Jundam Greez Dritus ect.
