Mainly historical interest?
Not a facsimile edition, but newly typeset and redrawn for legibility for the modern reader. A new preface by the publisher puts this work in context. Excellent job!Garments included are those that a 9th century middle-class household would be most likely to sew at home. Very few adult garments, mainly children's clothes and charity sewing. I suspect that this means the book is more useful to the historian than to the costumer. For myself, I sewed mainly in the 1950s and 60s from commercial patterns. I would find it hard to follow the instructions in this book even with Ms. Kannick's helpful comments. A costumer accustomed to period instructions and with some skill in patternmaking would fare better.
