Great Price! Great Product! Only tool needed was a multi socket wrench!
This bench is great for a cheap price! Comfortable to use and no weird smell. This is not for people taller than 5”9. The cushion is a bit thin, so when you are doing your hip thrusts you may feel the wooden board. Other than that laying on top while doing benches is comfortable to use. The only concern was that the instructions on how to assemble the bench. It said I didn't need any tools for the first step which was completely wrong, with out the use of a socket wrench the whole bench would be unstable and not sturdy at all. Best of advice is just to grab yourself a socket wrench and use that to tighten and secure all the screws. Thats the only tool I needed

Just set up the bench and this is a review ...
This is a update of my original review after 3 weeks of use of the bench. The build is decent but not heavy duty. The main reason is on the metal materials used. The metal frame is made of rectangular hollow tubes which is only 1/16 inch thick, a bit weak for this type of equipment. Therefore, it is not sturdy as advertised at Amazon.com which says "Sturdy frame construction". To be sturdy, the tube wall need to be at least 3/32 inch thick like my Total Gym Ultra sliding machine which is really sturdy as proven by years of use. The hollowness of the metal frame tubes at the point where the two main tubes meet perpendicularly between the knees is especially a concern. At a thickness of 1/16 inch, the vertical tube collapses when the two nuts are tightened during installation. If the machine breaks one day, this will be the point because it absorbs most of the load. Another weakness is the small 4 bolts (1/4 inch in diameter) used to fasten the seat board to the frame. Because the seat is the main support for the whole body, why the designer do not use bolts somewhat stronger. It is especially puzzling that the bolts used to fasten the vertical back board are much thicker even though it has much smaller load than the seat board. Therefore, the design is NOT logical. The designer seemed to try to minimize the use of materials as the metal bars perpendicular to the frame tubes under the seat board AND the vertical back board are BOTH too short so that most of the boards are unsupported. Again this is especially a concern for the seat board because during exercise everyone tends to move to the left and right frequently. So the seat board may break at the point the support ends. Lastly, the heads of the 4 bolts in the front side, 2 between the knees as mentioned above and another 2 through the horizontal floor support, should be covered by snap-in plastic covers to prevent injury and also for cosmetic reason. Overall, the main concern with the product is not made as sturdy as it should be for lasting usage. The positives are the length of the 2 floor support round tubes, one front and the other at the tail, is sufficiently long (18.5 inch) so that the bench does not fall or waggle to the sides, and of course the reasonable price.

Pretty easy to assemble!
I received my Marcy bench today and laid everything out and put it together by myself. I’m a 64 yr. old woman. Took about an hour after I tightened all the bolts. Pretty sturdy and for the price, great buy! Looking forward to being able to work out in my small apartment while watching tv. I want to thank a guy named Anthony who’s review I read. He said don’t tighten bolts til it’s completely put together. Great tip! Thanks man ☺️we’ll see how it holds up, but I’m excited to have this bench. Can’t wait to see my muscles👍 Ok so I’m adding a caveat to the above review. I really like the bench for myself, but honestly I won’t recommend it for a bigger person. It’s kind of narrow and a little too lightweight. A wider person would probably not be comfortable. I’m 5’4 and about 186 lbs and it’s ok for me. It’s small which is what I needed for the limited space I have. I do like to watch tv and do my exercises..super easy. All in all just be forewarned that it might be better to look for a sturdier piece of equipment👍Have a great day😊

Nice lightweight bench, but it does not lay flat. Not heavy duty.
Well first of all it does NOT lay flat, only the top part lays flat, the bottom piece is elevated, that is not what I wanted for my application, The elevating piece is not what I would call sturdy. It is a nice looking bench, the best instructions I have seen in a while. It does incline and decline, just not a full flat bench!

Great starter bench for anybody
This bench is just great! It took a few different socket sizes to put together and in some places demanded an anchor wrench in addition to the socket, but all the bench parts were included in a super-secure cardboard backed plastic shrink bubble. The instructions were very clear with excellent parts assembly diagrams. It's sturdy enough that I feel confident sitting my 350 lb self on it, it's stable both on carpet and linoleum, and it inclines to 45 degrees up, 90 degrees flat, or 45 degrees down. The locking arm for inclining the bench looks a bit iffy at first glance, but it is sturdy and once weight is applied to it there is zero rattle or shift at the locking pin. The padded rollers make it really comfortable to lock legs and feet in place for sit-ups. I've only been using this bench for a few weeks. I started out doing a few half sit ups at a time from the 45-degree up position, got up to 50 reps very quickly, and now I'm doing multiple sets 10 to 15 reps at the 90-degree flat angle. I haven't lost any weight at all, but my posture, confidence, and both physical and mental energy are through the roof! This bench makes tedious and difficult to get started with exercises simple, fast, and thoroughly enjoyable.

At this price point, this exercise bench is great! It is easy to assemble; the screws are all clearly labeled. It took me about an hour to assemble the bench. I purchased this bench for outdoor use (under cover), and I’m reluctant to put a more expensive bench outdoor; this bench works out perfectly. It is sturdy. For people under 5’7 or 5’8, it works well. For taller people, the bench might not be able to provide you with good support for your head.

Not as sturdy as a high end bench but does the job , good price
