Great product! The color came out with dark red hint on my dark brown hair. This product does not have a bad smell and did not give me a headache like other cheap products did. Well worth money spent!

Mixed Results
I've been dyeing my hair with box dyes (Loreal Feria C74 has been my go-to, so I like it intense!) for about 20 years now and have loved the color results, but don't love how it damages my hair and causes hair fall with every application, so I decided to try this henna at the recommendation of a friend. I naturally have fine, wavy, dishwater blonde hair so I anticipated that my hair would take henna well, but I have mixed feelings about my results. It's definitely a different process! The henna is very thick and difficult to work through hair, as it almost forms a sticky concrete consistency as soon as it's applied. So, a bit of a learning curve there. I used an applicator bottle that I bought separately and widened the tip to get the henna to squeeze through, but had a very hard time getting it down and worked in to my roots because of the thick consistency. I kept at it though, and got good coverage. The rest of the length of my hair I used an applicator brush instead and basically painted it on all sides of the strands. My hair is verrry long (down to my butt) and somewhat thin after recent illness and postpartum hair loss, and the one kit I used had more than enough and plenty to spare when I was done.I was worried about staining my skin so I used vaseline around some areas but ended up getting the paste everywhere anyway, and fortunately the staining was very minor and washed away within a few days. I wrapped my hair in plastic wrap and a towel and kept the henna in my hair for four hours before washing it out.I am impressed with how red it came out compared to how mucky green/brown the paste was, however I'm not exactly satisfied with the color results. I was going for a vivid, coppery red as shown in the product photos but instead it came out as more of an intense rusty auburn, much closer to the color results shown in the "auburn" kit than what is shown here. It also came in much more vivid and shiny on the already-dyed parts of my hair than on the roots, which I didn't expect because my hair and roots are naturally light. On the natural roots it basically just darkened them and they look dull which isn't what I was going for.And I figure there's some trial-and-error with henna since it's a natural product and that's fine, but what really frustrates me is that I went back through the different red shades they sell here afterward and found that they used the exact same color result photos across several different shades that they sell! So I have no idea which shade is supposed to actually produce which result or if the results shown for this shade were actually obtained using this kit or with another one altogether! And now I don't know which one to try in the future if I want to go for a different color more closely approximating the copper red that I want. I'd love it if this brand would show the *actual* color results specific to the *actual* kit they are selling instead of putting the same photos on every different product. That's incredibly frustrating!Even with my hair coming out rust-auburn instead of vivid copper I was prepared to rate this product 4 stars, but now that I see the bad marketing I can't give more than 3.I guess next time I'll have to use chemical dye again to lighten my hair back to how it was before trying again with henna to get the correct shade. Wish me luck!

Amazing
I have used henna from Mehandi for a few years and absolutely love it! My hair is very dark and only shows the slightest hint of color, but the silky texture and healthy shine it provides is what keeps me buying more. I will never use conventional hair color again. The henna powder comes in packets that I mix with lemon or apple juice the night before I want to color, apply it to my hair (roots only at this point), cover with a processing cap and a towel, and wait. Simple. Several of my friends also use this henna and we usually get together and have a nice girls night at home with mud on our heads. Color and fun in one package!

Not bad
Eh. The color came out pretty nice, especially on the parts of my hair that had been previously highlighted. The trouble was the henna washed out over time and it isn't supposed to do that. I mixed it with apple juice according to instructions on the Ancient Sunrise website. I left it in for 3 hours instead of 4. I found it to be quite drippy, actually, so it is possible I used too much liquid when mixing. The smell wasn't unpleasant, just a bit different. My hair did feel very nice after ward, not damaged at all. You must be gentle when washing the thick mud-like henna out. This would be something I would try again, and I may in the summer, once school is out. I still have a good portion left over in my freezer to use for the next time and my hair is just to my shoulders.
