GREAT umbrella. Well built, squishy handle, really gives you confidence in the rain that you will be protected. The only drawback is part of its asset: it is huge! Really big opened up, but really long folded up. It is not something you can toss in your tote, you have to haul it over your shoulder. But small price to pay for staying dry.Update three years later! Still going strong. I came home in a fantastic thunderstorm tonight and this umbrella kept me much drier than any of my previous dinky umbrellas. I don't use this as often as someone in Seattle would, but after all these years it is holding up.The only thing "wrong" with my umbrella is it does not automatically lock when I collapse it anymore. I have to secure the straps and that will keep the ribs down long enough for it to stay locked folded up. Really not a hassle but it is the only thing "broken" about it after three years.Update six years later: it finally died this week. The center pole broke from something internal. I could still use it to keep me dry in the gentle rain but if a gust of wind had come up I would have lost the top. Not bad at all for six years of public transportation use. Kept me reasonably dry waiting for the bus all this time. Dallas actually received more rain in 2015 than Seattle, so this umbrella got a workout! Certainly the longest I have ever owned an umbrella.

Works as well as any double canopy golf umbrella, but has a rare rubber tip!
I used to have an old Taylormade umbrella which walked away on it's own (at a church of all places), and I've been trying to find a suitable replacement ever since. However, name brand golf umbrellas seem to carry a hefty premium to them. I realized that they don't manufacture their own umbrellas and just add their branding to a 3rd party, which is how I discovered ShedRain, which partners with Taylormade, at a fraction of the price. One crucial feature of the old umbrella which I've found is rare, was a rubber tip on the end of the umbrella. With an umbrella this size I tend to use it like a walking stick when not in use, so a metal or plastic tip would eventually get all scuffed and dinged. I'm happy to report that this umbrella has said rubber tip.I also wanted the double canopy and a contoured grip, which this umbrella carries. I like the gel grip, but I wish it was a bit firmer as it tends to give a bit and you lose some control of your umbrella in windy conditions. I also don't know how to feel about the square shape - I don't really see a benefit or improvement over the typical circle, and I think you lose a bit of coverage when trying to also cover someone walking next to you. I also wish it was a tad bigger, though I believe my previous umbrella was 64" round, so this one just feels small until I get used to it.

Looks great. Returned for different style.
Looked great. Returned for a round umbrella, slightly larger. This one looks great, however! ((The square shape is probably great for outdoorsmen/women, and golfers. I ordered this by mistake and returned next day. I kept the purchase I intended to make - which is a 63" round umbrella (huge! You should see the box.) It is for both my husband, an outdoorsmen, but primarily for times we go out together in the rain. Like date nights, or just out to eat, to shop, to a cafe...so he can hold the umbrella and it will cover both of us - and protect our clothing - in rain or storms. It is really for both of us, secretly...:-) Merry Christmas, everyone! Stay safe, warm and dry. May God bless you and yours.

Almost killed me.
I have been in the restaurant business for thirty years. Because guests leave umbrellas behind quite often, I haven't had to buy one in almost as many years. But I did, unfortunately, buy this one. I was hoping for it to by my 'forever umbrella,' but it has become my 'never umbrella.'It is great in many ways, but the catch that is meant to keep it closed has worn out (I've only used it three times), and the umbrella won't stay closed without using the Velcro straps. The worst was when it opened in the passenger footwell of my car…while I was driving. Let's say that this led to some performance driving during my commute. This umbrella almost killed me. Needless to say, I will not be using it again. I wish I could have my money back, but Amazon won't allow me to return it.

Great Umbrella
Bought this November 2012. It lasted two years in Seattle rain and wind which is good. Usually I'm replacing my cheap umbrellas twice a year on an easy rain season. I'm giving it 3 stars because one of the ties snapped within the first 1 year but it was still useable up until today's wind storm when the stitching tore and a hole opened up. Another reason for the 3 stars is this thing is heavy and if you don't have a good grip on it and a big gust catches it, you're going to get whacked with this monster. That all being said I'm buying the same umbrella to replace my broken one. I love the size and shape.

Wonderful Umbrella
This was my 3rd purchase of this umbrella. We've been using this type and brand of umbrella at least 5 years. The air vents keep the umbrella from turning inside out during strong winds. The gel handle makes it easy to hold the umbrella, it's a good quality, sturdy and the colors are pretty on a rainy day. The only down side for some people might be the size. It's large to carry inside buildings but I knew the size before I bought it and will order the same umbrella when we need another one so I'm not taking off any stars for that. The square shape & the size when it's open and in use is wonderful for keeping 2 people dry.
