Best Portable Player We've Ever Owned
We purchased this item for two reasons: (a) Twice yearly we take road trips in excess of 8 hours, and a portable DVD player helps keep our child distracted for part of the journey and (b) my wife and I don't have a television in our bedroom; periodically, my wife will have bouts of insomnia and she'll use our portable DVD player to keep her occupied until she can finally drift off.Over the last decade, we've owned several different models of portable DVD player. This was our first portable Blu Ray player. When this one dies, we'll probably buy it again.I was extremely impressed with this product - quite literally from the moment I opened the box. The way the unit was packed was almost comical. It was completely encased in bubble wrap. When we finally got it started, it passed the two major tests my wife and I have for portable players: It had a really fast load time - 30 seconds and we were seeing the FBI warning - and the picture was incredible. I know we shouldn't be surprised that a Blu Ray player would produce such a crisp image, but c'mon! It's a portable player! Seriously, the picture was really nice.I will acknowledge that there is a high-frequency 'whirling' sound produced by this machine (others have commented on it here). If you've ever owned a portable player before (and as I mentioned, we've had several), then you'll know that no portable player is silent. The reason I give this five stars is because for all the noise, this is THE QUIETEST unit we've ever owned. To clarify: It DOES make noise, but we felt it's barely noticeable and if you buy any portable DVD player, you are GOING to get noise. The noise is quiet enough that you can't hear it in the car. If you're putting it on in your bedroom, you'll notice it. Once the movie starts, you won't.A few more notes: We laughed ourselves silly over the remote control - it is unnecessarily complicated. I'm not going to mark this unit down because of it only because it's a remote control. It does what it needs to do. The only problem my wife has faced is that the buttons that are on the unit to control the player are flush under the screen (as seen in the picture). This looks really slick, but if it's dark and you're trying to start a movie or navigate the main menu, you can't really feel your way to the button you need.In the final analysis: This is a solid, portable Blu Ray player that looks sharp and does exactly as advertised. I'd highly recommend it.

Best portable Blu-ray player on the market
Best portable DVD player portable Blu-ray player CD player and all the above you cannot get any better than this it is cheap it's well-made and is very good quality I had a total of three DVD players within a year they are broke this one I just got it and it already is better than all them plus that plays Blu-rays the volume with on the player is the best I ever had all the DVD players that I've had only went up to 30 this one goes up to 100 so yeah better the only bad thing about the player is the carrying case the carrying case is too small the DVD player is a lot more bigger than it says I think because it would not even fit in the bag but bags are easy to find

Great Portable Bluray player
I researched this product thoroughly before purchasing and did have some concerns about some of the negative reviews I read. Honestly, I must have gotten a good one as it performs flawlessly. Great picture. Great convenience and utility.Buying these mass made Chinese products is kind of like rolling the dice I know...but I would venture a guess that more often than not, you get a good one- in addition to what you paid for. But hey, if you get a defective one just send it back for free with Amazon and get a replacement.I connected an "Oontz" portable speaker which provides incredible sound and only adds to the viewing experience. In addition, by doing so I'm getting 3 to 4 hours of use on one charge and it has yet to die on me. I've watched 2 complete movies at one sitting and it showed no signs of battery diminishing which is very good for a portable. Many reviews indicate that it is noisy. When the unit first fires up and you inset a disk up of course there is some noise when the disk spins etc (what player doesnt?) but after initial start-up I notice no (repeat NO) noticeable noise, in fact - it is pleasantly quiet allowing for a great viewing experience.I did have to give it 4 stars rather than 5 because the remote is kind of a joke...But certainly not a show stopper. Much like any technological device, dropping this once will probably be the end and I doubt it would survive being mishandled by young children for very long. With proper care and handling I would suspect this product will last a long time. (If it doesn't, I will surely come back with a detailed update!)I would buy it again and would definitely reccomend.

Very Nice Portable Unit
Since we've converted some of our movie collection to Blu-ray discs, we needed a portable player that would play both, Blu-ray and regular DVDs. This unit worked great for us! The remote control is a little overwhelming, but I was able to easily connect this player to the hotel's HDMI Port and catch up on Game Of Thrones while on vacation. :) I even watched a movie on the airplane with it.The accompanying case allows you to carry the player and watch movies without removing the player from the case. The case even has zippers on the sides so you can access the power switch/access ports--again, without having to remove the player. The case is NOT padded, however. Not an issue for me, but just so you know.Shipping was fast and the item arrived as described.

Used occasionally for over 1.5 years, it just broke and disc stops spinning while screen flickers
This was convenient on a few trips where we hooked it up to the hotel room TV and watched a movie rather than watching channels they had. Also used in home office to watch movies while using the computer. The remote control was never that responsive and sometimes battery would run out with no warning. Bought November 2017 and it just stopped working August 2019. In the middle of a movie, screen started flickering. Maxmade logo appears on screen and then screen goes black repeatedly. When open disc cover, the disc isn't spinning. It played a CD for about 20 seconds before doing the same. I'll look for another brand.
