The media could not be loaded.  I just received this. Bought it for my 7 yr old grandson's Christmas, this will be perfect to use as his nightlight. The only thing I was rather concerned about was the thing sticking out of the top of the acrylic plate, it's very, very sharp! Fortunately, one of the guys I work with was able to round it off a bit & now I am much more comfortable in giving this to him. Also, it did not come with the electrical adapter needed to plug into the wall. My grandson is young & does not have his own computer so I will have to find one to purchase, along with an extension cord as the one that came with it is very short. Will anyone of those work? I sure hope so. Not sure why companies don't make cords longer! Other than that I think this may be his favorite Christmas gift!

It’s larger and more functional than I anticipated for $9. It’s substantial item with nice edges. Too bad it didn’t come with USB power-cube, but did come with micro-USB cable. I just used a spare power-cube from my iPhone. Also works on 3xAAA batteries as well.Note to ham-fisted neanderthals: micro-USB plugs are NOT double-sided. Taken close look at USB socket on side of unit and orient the plug in proper direction when inserting. If it doesn’t go in, YOU made a mistake and don’t try forcing it in. Back up, take a closer look at socket and plug, then adjust accordingly. Might be safer to stick with batteries if you’re not able to operate USB plugs.

Received this today for our 2 yr old son for a nightlight. Upon receiving it, it came missing the charger that was supposed to be included with the package. Thus the reason for 4 stars. Beside that it's exactly as others had described and what I was looking for. It's so easy to use that my 2 yr old had it figured out quickly. It's a flat plastic that when turns on gives the impression of 3D/projection. Multi colors.

I plugged mine into a USB power source after peeling off the protective film and it looks great! Nice bright light and excellent illusion of 3D. As others have noted, it's a flat piece of clear lucite etched with the BB-8 design so don't expect an actual hologram or round object, but from a few steps away the hologram illusion is very good. It has touch controls to switch between 7 colors and a color-cycle mode. Seems well made, my grandson will love this thing!

Looks great. Pretty much what I expected. The USB power cable is a bit annoying since I would prefer a normal cord. Also make sure you take off the protective plastic from both sides. On one side it is really difficult to remove. Had to use a box cutter to scrape some off the corner of the plastic.

This lamp is exactly what we wanted for our son's room. The glow was a perfect light for when you want something a little brighter than a night light. The 3D effect was amazing. However, this lamp is extremely sensitive to power surges and electric noise. Any fluctuation turns the power off and on in an erratic manner. I have tried two different ones with the same result. Our outlets have standard fluctuations and we have never had any problems with any other electric device. The only way we were able to keep the lamp from turning on and off was to plug it into a battery backup power surge protector, and we don't need a BB8 lamp there.One other note: Like I said before, I went through 2 of these lamps, through the same company. The look of the BB-8 were drastically different from each other. One was about 2 inches shorter, faced a different direction, did not lean like on the picture below, but had more detail. Just know that yours may not look like the one pictured.

I did like the little lamp but at the top of it has a very sharp edge and it could be dangerous for a young child.

Got this for my oldest son after episode VII came out.I was expecting something made flimsy that was just banking on the popularity of the movie.I was wrong. It is well crafted and it's features make it worth more than the price. I would have been willing to pay more for this. I think this is something he will keep and use for a while and then be able to save it for his kids.
