Finally, back to a light that doesn't require charging after nearly every ride.
In my experience, tail lights that are rechargeable last between 5 and 8 hours max... and then they shut off completely. This means that I only get one or two rides out of them and I can't be sure it will last for more than one ride, so I recharge it every time. Except when I forget. And then I don't have my blinky safety light. The alternative? Old-style AAA battery powered tail lights like this one. It last for something like 100 hours; dozens of rides. I can keep a couple of extra batteries in my bag or buy them at a store or gas station if necessary. The light dims slowly so you can usually finish a ride with some light and just swap out batteries at home. I already have a bike computer/gps that needs recharging and it is much easier, for me anyway, to charge just one thing after every ride. The light is also bright and can be clearly seen by people in following vehicles. Yes, it is a little large and heavy and it is kind of hard to tell if it is on when viewing from a riding position. Considering all the tradeoffs, I like it much better than rechargeable lights.

Too many problems
Very bright, when it works. At first, the switch did not always work, and sometimes the light would turn off mid ride. New batteries appeared to help those two issues. The mount needed repeated tightening of the tiny screw. Finally, the light self-ejected from the mount mid-ride and stopped working completely. The return window is closed so it is going in the garbage.

Light does not rotate
This is the third one I buy, this time for my kid's bike. The previous two you could rotate the light horizontally which will allow better visibility. I guess this is a cheapo version to make a tad more money but it is disappointing. Light itself is as good as always.

Some people say “This is the only light I’ll ever use”…. Maybe
From a functionality point of view this is excellent. It is very visible in daylight and the pulse mode is very good in twilight. We tried USB rechargeable units and they are a pain with only 10 hours between recharges. We take long adventure trips and having to worry about charging the lights is chore too much. Sometimes that’s not even possible. So this unit uses regular batteries that last the entire trip and then some. But… very durable they are not. People are happy to buy them every two years but sometimes something breaks before that. I broke two straps so far. Luckily I had spare straps from units that broke differently. The on off button stops working. Water can seep in and this thing corrodes instantly.I am still buying replacements because I can’t find anything better.

REALLY GREAT PRODUCT!!!
I can honestly say that this is the best product of it's type that you are going to purchase. I don't really see how (based on one review that I read here), the straps could break because I use it around the seat post and even the rear tube post and literally there's no problem. I use the rechargeable batteries and don't think twice. Now I have the NiteRider 100 and it's plenty. You will love this product. 3+ Years using this product. Not leaks, no problems, no nothing.

Very bright and long lasting
Want a light that won't die unexpectedly, or will last through a VERY long ride, while being super bright? Will this is it! The batter will last months with 4-8 hours of riding per week. The light gets dim as the battery dies so you don't have to wait for it to fail before changing the batteries.
