Love it
My home was very dry at10% humidity. Humidity level is coming up slowly over the past week and now up to 20%. Easy to fill and extremely quiet. Very pleased with this purchase

Best humidifier I've owned.
This is the best humidifer I've owned (and I've owned several). For starters, it's evaporative, which is far superior than ultrasonic. Because it's not ultrasonic it has no risk of minerals being dispersed in the air and breathed in, and white dust building up on all your stuff. Ultrasonic units also don't come with a fan to push the humidity around, and so I noticed with a hygrometer that while an ultrasonic unit might shut it off at a set humidity, if i measured the humidity on the opposite end of the room it'd still be low. The Vornado also comes with a wick that's pretreated to be antimicrobial, helping ensure no bacteria or mold builds up in your unit. It's hygrometer that it uses to automatically shut itself off is extremely accurate as per my testing, and it will cause the air in the entire room to be the precise set desired humidity. The fan is also powerful (like all Vornado fans), but not very loud. It also humidifies quickly, bringing my bedroom up to the desired humidity in less than an hour. Finally, the design for removing the water canister and refilling it is the best I've ever seen. It's just one giant tube with a huge opening that you can pull off its base and replace with ease and with no leaking. Because the base and the tube are so accessible it makes it a breeze to clean. Vornado makes excellent products and this is no exception. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money for this top of the line unit. While the antimicrobial wick is probably all the safeguarding you need, also do yourself a favor and purchase a few Kaz PC-1 Protec® Cleaning Cartridges to help ensure you never disperse mold or bacteria back into the air. Finally, I'd like to point out this review is 100% voluntarily written and I was not given a unit for testing or anything like that. I'm just a dude that loves this product. I have no reason whatsoever to be biased.

There are no two ways about it
Either you will have white dust to clean up if you buy a cheap humidifier or you can buy this Vornado and change the wick filters now and then and you'll have no white dust. This is my third Vornado humidifier. I also own the EVAP40 with 2 tanks but that one alone couldn't handle the entire 1500 square foot home. So I purchased this one for the master bedroom, which measures 15 x18 feet. It works fine and the fan on low is quiet enough I don't lose any sleep. I've had this a month and no leaking at all. I'm thinking the people who complain about leaking either don't read instruction manuals or didn't test for minute cracking after unboxing. The manual says to do this. Mine was fine, so I had it set up in less than 5 minutes. The water container is easy to fill and carry. I have hard water where I live and the wick filters last me 7-8 weeks. So depending on when I set the humidifiers up for the winter season, I only need to replace them once. Sometimes I can get by with only 1 set of filters by soaking them in vinegar and then replacing them back into the humidifier. BTW, the Vornado customer service is excellent. On my original EVAP40 I bought in 2008, the fan motor started making a strange sound only 3 days before the warranty expired (a 5 year warranty). I contacted Vornado and they immediately sent a replacement no charge. All they wanted in return was the cut off cord of the old unit. The EVAP40 I'm using now is 11 years old. I also have several Vornado air circulator fans that are almost 15 years old and even now, those work as new.

Little bit noisy but works good
It's noisy as the heater sound of the house, but it works so good. All the ultra sound humidifiers need to be cleaned everyday, but this one is ok to use longer than that without cleaning. Air circulation in my room is a plus!

Great For Small Spaces, Good For Manual Use, Auto Feature Is Finicky
First the bad - the worst part about this humidifier is the Auto feature and/or the built-in humidistat/hygrometer. It seems a bit finicky. There are a few reviews complaining that it cycles too much. I have had the opposite experience. I have set the Auto feature to turn on 60%, a separate hygrometer next to it says the room air is at 40-45%, but the humidifier stays off. Sometimes it starts working and cycling. But sometimes it sits there for hours without triggering. It's very inconsistent. Because of that, I highly recommend using this manually, meaning just turning it on/off yourself. I think it's the best use anyway because the smaller size means it's best suited for smaller spaces that don't need perfect humidity 100% of the time, like a bedroom or office. It really does a nice job of increasing humidity and keeping it stable. My use: When I start to get ready for work or bed, I turn it on high. When I'm settling in, turn it on low. Works great. Works even better if I close the door. If you're really precise, get a separate hygrometer to determine if you should be running it or not. It is an evaporative humidifier. Be sure to understand the pros/cons vs other humidification methods. For example, it is more energy efficient and easier to clean, but it is also louder and humidifies more slowly. The "wick" the fan blows also needs regular replacement. It will also cool down a room a little, which is good or bad depending on what you want. So what is best for you depends on your situation, and I recommend do some light research before committing. Overall, a pretty nice humidifier for small spaces, and the price of $60 is very reasonable. Satisfaction will depend on a lot on your circumstances though, so explore and review all yours options.
