A must have for everyone!
I got this book along with The Five Love Languages and it was the best thing I have ever done! It is definitely a book that you want in your collection, even if you aren't a Christian but can still keep an open mind to the Bible passages Lahaye uses. Discovering my temperaments at the young age of 21 was not only eye opening but helpful in all sorts of ares in my life. It helped with my friendships, relationships, choosing a major in college, finding a job that suited me and that I was good at, and also in being able to understand others. It is an excellent book to use for bible studies, temperament studies, youth groups, etc... A definite must have for a journey of self discovery as well as a good book to keep you in check and help you grow out of bad habits with the help of the Holy Spirit and discover your true potential.

Worth it for the sections on fear and anger
I greatly recommend this book. Dr. LaHaye gives practical spiritual advice on own's walk with the LORD. The descriptions of the various temperament types are spot on. This section gives the weaknesses of the types. I personally found those sections most enlightening. The advice on how to battle fear and anger are excellent. There are five steps to battle fear and six steps to battle anger, along with the "step" of repeat when one sins again. None of the advice in this book can be accomplished overnight. This book will be a great asset to anyone who wants to have a productive life to the glory of Yeshua Jesus.Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6)

Excellent Book!
For many years I questioned why I exhibited certain behavior that were unpleasant.A friend of mine who is a christian doctor recommended this book to me.Upon reading the first chapter I recognized I had found a book that had some answers. After a good evaluation by my fiance, family and myself it was easy to see that the book is spot on.I have been able to more critical analyze myself and make adjustments. It is valid tool for self discovery and improvement and I have since given it as gifts to a number of people including my parents who have been married for YEARS.

Loved this book!
I heard about this book from a friend. If you want to understand why your kids act the way they do, as well, this is AWESOME. Because of this book, I have come to EMBRACE many traits of my 12-year-old rebellious daughter. Who knew?! I thought a troubled childhood had caused much of how she is, but learning that she was born that way--that God made her that way--was EXACTLY what I needed to better my relationship with her. It has also done WONDERS to help HER understand how and who she is and why. She's not so different afterall--just different from her mother!...and that's OKAY. We both have had a lot of fun observing people we know and how best to communicate with them based on their temperments. I HIGHLY recommend this book!

Want to Understand Yourself and How to Best Relate to Others?
I've used Why You Act the Way You Do twice now in teaching Lit Circle for teenagers. I've read quite a number of books on the personality types by different authors, but this is the best because it's the most practical and seems to be more thorough than The Spirit-Controlled Temperament (also by LaHaye). It helped me accept myself and understand why and how I am different from others, and it very much helped me accept others and know how to best relate to them. Invaluable! The teenagers hugely benefited from this study, plus we had a lot of fun doing it. It makes it so much easier to understand people and ourselves. They will use this information all their lives as I have for the past 25 years.

Hot air
This book involves no science, no intellectual or behavioral approaches, not even schemas or personality disorders are discussed. It's EXTREMELY religious, judgmental and holier than thou, amd really just feels like some self-important man who doesn't know anything at all about the field just espousing whatever he thinks is right without any rhyme, reason, causality or explanation. Not helpful, not insightful, would not recommend.

Psychology meets Christ
This book combines the theories of Psychology with the truth from the Bible. I love how Tim LaHaye explains our natural temperaments and how giving Christ authority in our lives will enable us to conquer our weaknesses and become a "new blend" of temperament. He also gives good advice about areas such as dating, workplace, career choices, friendships, etc. and provides numerous examples to explain what he means.Although I personally do not agree with all of LaHaye's theology--this book is ground in scripture and, when read by a Bible believing Christ follower, will help you to understand yourself and the people around you. I recommend this book to all of my friends.
