is this medical grade stainless steel?

I'm sorry. I've never heard of medical grade stainless steel; and I don't want to give you false information.

This might sound dumb but are the forks sharp? I purchased another set on Amazon and I hate that the forks are not pointed to a sharp point.

I think they're sharp enough; they're definitely not rounded. I'm very happy with this purchase, so much so that I purchased an additional one for when we have large family gatherings, and have received many compliments. They're not as heavy as my everyday service set, but still a good value for the money.

Shouldn't you avoid 18/0 flatware because it doesn't contain nickel and isn't resistant to rust/corrosion?

We have a family members allergic to nickel and it's a very common allergy, maybe that's why?
