This ladder is perfect for me
I have a tiny house on wheels with an elevator bed. When the bed is down it is still too tall to just get into so I was using a metal cheap two step ladder. I wanted wood and I just needed one extra step so my feet are on the top step if I sit on the edge of the bed. It’s about two feet from the floor to the bottom of the platform. This is perfect. It comes to the bottom of the platform. I gave light weight a 3 because it is solid heavier weight wood and although small is not super light but I don’t want it to be if I am actually using it. I saw the reviews where people were addressing issues and how they did some minor wood working to address. I decided to put it together per the instructions first and address anything after. The only part that gave some small issues were the folding bracket that attaches to the top and legs. I had to loosen and tighten screws on both sides until I was able to get it to screw in properly on both sides. Other than that I have not had to cut anything or make any changes at all. I am 5’5” about 130 pounds and it holds my weight fine. I love they even have a hanging bracket that comes with it. I can hang it up out of the way when I am not using it. I specifically wanted a nice wood ladder for aesthetics since it will be out in the open all the time. I may put some clear varnish to protect it but I won’t be painting it. It looks pretty as is.

It comes UNASSEMBLED!
It comes in pieces. I was in shock about that! But pieces of wood are a strong hard wood and the ladder is super sturdy! And the folding ladder comes with a hook piece to hang it on a wall which is nice. One wish I had is that the screw heads would not strip with the weak wrench that is sent along.Assembly takes about 30 minutes.

Don’t buy unless you want to do the carpentry Ikea got wrong
At the end of the day, I made this ladder work, but not without major rework. As you can see in the picture, the ladder was fabricated with dimensions such that the ladder cannot fully open, and thus, cannot be used. It so happens that I have a wood shop with table saw, which allowed me to cut about 3/16” off (at a specific angle) of the upper horizontal members to allow the legs to mate. If you don’t have precision woodworking tools, tho, you might want to skip this ladder. My time spent fixing Ikea’s sloppy manufacturing was worth more than the ladder.

This is actually a nice DIY product1
Based on a couple reviews, I test fitted the folding legs to make sure the joint didn't bind and stress the metal hinge. I needed to shave about 1/16" off the two legs where they meet the ladder under the top step - opens and closes smoothly. Heavy metal hardware and typical IKEA hex screws (tool included.)Assembly is easy and should take about 15-20 mins out of the box..Stool is unfinished wood with a smooth sanded finish. I stained mine with solvent-based dark walnut stain and it came out almost too nice to double as an aged stool - so nice, I added a coat of water-based satin Eurothane to seal the grain. I'll eventually distress and sand some wear to the edges for character.
