Great Product
It is relatively small and the mounting holes in the adapter bracket supplied with the drive did not match up with the holes in the hard drive cage in my HP desktop but it is so light that getting two screws set works just fine. This drive does NOT come with a power adapter or a SATA connector. Make sure you have those when you order the drive - only $4 - $5 more. Thus far I am extremely pleased with the drive. The computer, according to Wise 365 boots in @20 seconds. Windows 7 performance index for the drive is 7.8 (up 2 full points) and that is using it as the lead drive while keeping the WD 1.5 TB drive as storage. The entire setup seems to be working a lot cooler as the fans rarely come on. IMO, Scope is useless as a cloning program. I tried several times and after the drive was partitioned, it seemed like it quit transferring data. A free program, MiniTool Partition Wizard, did the job easily and cheaply. I'm going to put another one of these SSD's in my old laptop! I even seem to have faster Internet use. I'm very happy with the product and would recommend it to a friend.

Plastic Drive
I ordered this to replace an existing 128gb SSD that had become full in my computer. I purchased this because it seemed like the best deal at the time, however a day later another drive was less and I will assume that drive was better quality.Pros:Cost per gbSpeedLightCons:Plastic CasingLightThe first thing I noticed with this drive was how light it was compared with the drive I was replacing. This is two-fold as it could be a good thing, especially in a laptop or table where you are trying to save as much weight as possible, but in a desktop computer this doesn't matter. The main contributing factor to this is the fact that the drive is in a plastic case, compared to other name brand drives that are made of aluminum, I was a little worried. I almost sent this drive back and ordered a driver for $10 more because of this. Now don't get me wrong, I am not sure if the drive being made of plastic would affect its longevity, but I would think a metal drive would be more durable.Otherwise the drive performs as it should and has worked flawlessly for the few months I have now had it.

Love the Drive could use better instructions.
This was my first time ever purchasing an SSD for a laptop. I was not sure how the process was going to go swapping out a 5400 rpm drive to this SSD. Im am pretty good with computers but i dont consider myself an expert by any means. I received the drive in a small box and ordered a STATA cable (YOU NEED THIS) off of amazon as well. They both arrived in great shape. I got up early over the weekend to get this done before my wife woke up or i would have gotten the evil eye that basically says "why are you messing with something like this because you are going to break it and then we will be buying a new computer".I installed this in a 3 year old HP 4510 probook with an i3 processor and 4 meg of ram. The computer was SLOW from new and was only getting worse. it would take 2-3 min to boot up and good luck opening MS Word. I am not a gamer or download anything very often but i do have a lot of pictures from backing up my iphone. The original Drive was 750gb but i was only using about 100 of it so the 256 was going to work fine.On thing i will say before the pro's and con's. Go out and watch a couple of Youtube video's to understand exactly what you are doing and dont expect much in the way of instructions from Transend(or any other manuf. from what i have heard).Pro'sWOW the speed is amazing i now have a computer that boots in approx 15 seconds (was 3 min)Way easier to installed into the computer than what i thought it would be.I noticed much better battery life almost immediately.happy wifeCon'sAs many of the other people who wrote on here the software kinda stinks but it did workInstructions suck as well. At one point the instructions are trying to explain what is happening during the software exchange and it states that it is copying the OS only by clicking this box (it was already clicked) and i could not uncheck the box even though i wanted EVERYTHING to be tranferred but i could not get the software to perform this action. Finally i was like ok... (ieverything was backed up elseware) but at the end of the day it brought everything over.I like this so much i purchased another for an old mac book i have.

Great Performance and a great price!
Recently upgraded a 250GB notebook HDD with this. I initially considered the very popular Samsung EVO line, but just happened to see a great review on CNET for this Transcend line. Given the review and competitive price, I went for it.I cloned a 250GB HDD onto this in about 16 minutes and then used a USB 3.0 stick to transfer the user files via Windows easy transfer program. I haven't tested it yet, but I'd full expect the read write times to meet or exceed the advertised specs. So far, the drive is rock solid and really given the notebook a wonderful performance boost.

A good buy, a fast SSD but free shipping is.... slow.
Seems to be a good drive so far. I removed my Seagate Momentus XT 7200rpm platter drive in my Toshiba laptop w/ the 256GB Transcend. Although the Seagate was pretty snappy, this SSD is much snappier and does not vibrate or make noise or heat like the vintage platter drive does. I did not use the cloning software as I was ready to do a clean win7 install. The only con is my laptop only supports SATA II so the max through put is limited to the older interface. I still get around 270mb reads & writes. The random access times are approx. 30times faster. Oh, I have to mention that Amazons "free shipping" for $35 or more has really slowed down so remember this, if you order it w/ free shipping, be prepared to wait at least 6-7 days while it just sits there saying "preparing for shipment". Prime customers come first now. UPDATE 04/05/16, this drive is still working good and still fast and reliable. Getting ready to buy a 512GB.Update 02/22/21 SSD is still running well.

Fantastic for the money!
Another great SSD. Purchased this for £72 and installed in a white polycarbonate MacBook for a client. It's fast, but not as fast as other devices, on the Mac front, my 2012 Mac Mini has a Samsung 840 Evo which seems to start up faster than this. Obviously my 2013 MacBook Air will start up faster than this due to the different data interface. This is certainly a worthwhile upgrade for any computer through, once you get an SSD you wander how you ever used a hard drive. The included 3.5 inch bracket was also great, used that to mount an SSD in my desktop.

Fast, easy-to-install, value-for-money product
I bought this SSD after comparing it against Samsung EVO 850 and Corsair variants of similar capacity. In the end, I decided to purchase this SSD as it was the cheapest option with the closest match to Samsung EVO 850 in terms of performance and a significant price gap to the Samsung SSD. This Transcend SSD is excellent and is working very well for me. I was able to clone 120GB of data from my existing SATA hard disk to this SSD over a USB2.0 connection in just under 2.5 hours. After that I simply replaced the existing hard disk in my laptop with the SSD. Windows 7 Professional now shows a rating of 7.9 (the highest possible rating) for this SSD.A few important things to note.1. Please make sure that you have a SATA hard disk in your laptop before purchasing this SSD. Most laptops sold after 2009 after internal SATA disks but it does not hurt to make sure since the SSD has a SATA interface and won't fit in an IDE slot.2. If you wish to clone your existing hard disk, you will need to connect the SSD to a USB port on the laptop. The package does not have anything that would allow connecting the SSD to a laptop. Keep an external USB 2.5-inch SATA enclosure or a SATA to USB cable ready.3. The companion software called SSD Scope for cloning your existing hard disk can be downloaded from the Transcend website.4. Register the SSD on the Transcend website for warranty.
