Rejuvination for my old printer!
I bought an HP Laserjet 1012 printer over 20 years ago. This is the second time I have bought a toner cartridge, and after installing it the printer is printing like new again. What can I say? Once you go laser, you don't go back. This toner cartridge is the real deal.

Databazaar does it again! Kudos!!
I want to tell a story about this excellent company. I have never had a hand extended to me like this company did for me this past summer. I thought I had an empty toner cartridge so I ordered a generic cart from Databazaar in Miami. The printer was still telling me there was a toner cartridge problem. I ordered a second cartridge just to see if it was the refilled cart or my printer. After the second cart did not work I began my investigation. Scouring over the printer manual and working with Brother and their support department, there was no answer to the problem I had. Brother support then recommended me to take the printer to a local authorized repair center to check out. I thought, oh boy, I'll get a huge charge just for checking this thing out and then I would have been better off spending that money toward a new printer. I thought, what the heck. I called the local repair shop and they offer a free printer check. Wow! Okay, I'm on my way down. Turns out this company, Computer Corner here in Tampa, Florida has been around since the days of computer bulletin boards. I knew the owner, Gary, through the message bases back then. Okay, I leave the printer off for a couple of days as the tech is out of town. I get a call a few days later and the person was telling me that the printer is not economical to repair. I have heard those words before so I knew what I had to do. I drove down and picked up the broken printer and thanked the person at the counter for their service and headed home. I decided to try my luck and I emailed Databazaar when I got home and asked if I could return the unused but open package toner cartridges after explaining my printer is beyond repair. I was astounded that the owner replied back and said that wouldn't be a problem. I got a full credit refund back on my credit card and am happy to say that I have since done business with Databazaar with their fast shipping. Why go anywhere else now for my printer supplies, right? Just tell 'em that Paul in Tampa referred you.

HP Q2612A with HP 1012 a great combination
Updated 11/29/2008: I've been using an HP 1012 laser printer with WinXP Pro for about 4 years. I'm getting 2,100 to 2,300 sheets per HP Q2612A (12A) cartridge and have been very pleased with the quality, toner, print, and the fact I've had NO issues with the toner, or the printer (other than one little issue that was my fault - read on for more). I've used about 8 cartridge's or so over this 4 year period. I only use OEM (real HP branded) 12A's, as I don't want to mess with a good thing. The fusser (sp?) is built into the cartridge - so if you did get a little spec of something on the fusser, the next time you put a new cartridge in, you are back to clean again -- I know because I made a mistake once and fed a sheet with some wet white-out through the printer, and got a spec on the fusser that showed up on all pages. My error. Fortunately, the cartridge was just about empty, and when I put the next one in, it was clean again.I've like this HP solution so much, that I've also helped two other people purchase these or similar HP models. Both of them also use the Q2612A (12A) Print Cartridge and they have never had a problem either.Yes, these toner cartridges feel a bit expensive, but they all are. I keep an eye on all the popular and respectable web store, and when a good deal comes along, I buy ahead. You don't need to be spending seventy dollars on these cartridges! They can be found for sixty and fifty some times.

Are compatible toner cartridges really compatible?
HP Genuine Q2612A HP 12A Laser Toner Cartridge, 2,000 Pages (Black)I bought this toner cartridge because I thought it was a genuine HP product. HP makes quality printers and one would not want to use anything but quality HP parts for their printer so as not to void the warranty or after that expires, one wouldn't want to damage their printer due to using lower quality products that might mess up their investment in a quality product just because they could save a great deal of money. It is no secret that HP charges a steep price for their products by the very fact the they know we can't use "compatible" parts because of these assertions I've made here. We are bound by warranty at first but after that period ends we are free to do what we will with our HP printers. However there are some of us who are old enough to remember that there was a time that when we saw a product 'made in Japan' was a joke, so to speak. But now we know that the Japanese have gone above and beyond the lack of quality control that made their products so inferior, so we thought. Now we have entered a new age where parts made in China are suspect because of the same reasons we thought Japan couldn't make a decent product: those being lack of government oversight and lack of the companies' quality control experts being able to tell whether they just made a good product or if the part was a joke. After talking to the seller a couple of times, and because my printer is 8 years old but hardly used over that time period, I decided to take a leap of faith, after all the seller affirmed to me that these toner cartridges either met or exceeded the HP standard. That was hard to believe, to be honest with you. But I accepted the seller's offer to try it out and if I didn't like it than he would give me my money back. I figured that if the cartridge messed up my printer than I would have an excuse to get a brand new one.The part arrived on time and it was indeed the exact replica of the toner cartridge I extracted from my printer. The one and only critique that I would make about this part is the lack of instructions that should have come with it. That is to say, how to handle toner as it is toxic and should be handled with care. Also, as I said, it's been a long time since I've changed my cartridge so I was forced to remember how many pieces of material needed to be pulled out and away from the cartridge before inserting it into the printer. For the record, there are two pieces of material to pull out from the cartridge, the first one is obvious and large enough to notice; it is in front and I believe it exposes the new drum. But the clear plastic tape-like strip on the side is not so easily noticed but also needs to be pulled a long way out to release the toner when the printer prints. The cartridge inserted into the cartridgge slot perfectly.I've used the printer on several projects that I had in the works and needed some hard copies made. The printed copies could not be distinguished from the quality parts that HP makes and for which HP charges a small fortune for due to their monopolization of their parts industry.I have seen the light. I will continue to use parts from China since I see now that they are no longer a joke either.
