I lost my husband of 55 years 3 years ago and nothing has made me want to laugh since UNTIL These books! I started with Her first Louisiana Longshot (A Miss Fortune Mystery, Book 1) and I laughed so hard tears were pouring out of my eyes. Last night reading book #7 I said how can someone make this stuff up??" Gads it is so dang funny. I have a good imagination so I can See these things happening and OMG hilarious! Thank you Thank you for putting some laughs back into my life!

I enjoyed these books at the start, but now I find the entire series to be too static. There’s no change here, it’s just the same scenes, same humor, same characters and just a different mystery to be solved. The author is incapable of expanding her storyline and it looks like her formula writing continues to sell, so if it ain’t broke, why fix it. Reading these books is like binge watching The Beverly Hillbillies. Lots of low level chuckles but not much thinking is involved. Well, I see no reason to buy the next nine books in this series to read the same story.

Of you like Sandra Hill or other authors with a sense of humor you will love this whole series as much as I do. They are great stories with 2 extremely unlikely heroines in conjunction with a skilled operative in hiding that will have you laughing out loud. I recommend reading the first four before you get out of order because they lay a lot of groundwork. This series is unique but spellbinding like nothing else I' ve read and it puts a whole new spin on geriatric , retired soldiers. ENJOY! If living near the bayou is this much fun, let's move!

Gator Bait. Great book! Another one I couldn't put down. I thought about it when I was at work, wishing I could read it there! I kept thinking about Fortune and Carter, and I am hoping they get together soon, and hoping he is understanding when she tells him about herself! I think he will. I read every night before bed, and I can't put the book down. I resent my clock telling me I need to put my book down and go to sleep! Her books and this series are the best I have ever read. I am over 60 years old and have been reading mysteries, romances and adventure books forever. But these books are the most enjoyable I can remember reading. I just wish there were about 30 more in this series! lol The shenanigans these women get into to are hold your breath and sitting on the edge of your seat, and often funny! I just laugh and laugh sometimes. My husband has me read some of them to him and he asks me what the women are up to now? Oh I love these books! I just hope Ms Deleon writes more and more!!

As with Books One through Four, Fortune Redding and her crew fall into yet another mystery requiring high-octane action and side-splitting hilarity. I love all of these books. It is so rare to find laugh out loud books, books with a plot and great characters that make you put off dusting until you've read the entire thing. Actually, I put off getting dressed as well and just read right on through. As a lover of good banana pudding (called nanner puddin' in my part of the South) and of chicken fried steak, I so enjoy reading about the good and not so good people of Sinful. I'm all ready looking forward to my next visit there. I recommend that you read all of the books. I think you'll enjoy yourself immensely.

Gator Bait is the fifth book in the Miss Fortune Mystery series. It is such a fun read! It is a laugh-out-loud romp through the wacky town of Sinful, Louisiana. Wonderful characters, an interesting setting, a well-crafted mystery, a little romance, and lots of humor—what’s not to love!Fortune Redding (our star) is a CIA assassin hiding out in the little town of Sinful. In Gator Bait, she starts investigating the possible disappearance of Carter—her almost boyfriend. With the help of two elderly women (who are not what they seem!), she scales walls, outruns dogs, and hides her true identity from the Feds, all while trying to keep everyone safe.Although this book can be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone, I strongly encourage you to start with the first book (Louisiana Longshot). It will give you some background on the characters, which will help you to more fully enjoy this series. Besides, Louisiana Longshot is hysterical, and you would be losing out if you didn’t read it! Can’t wait to see what happens next in the lives of Fortune, Gertie, and Ida Belle. I do recommend this series. Give it a try. Happy reading!

This was the best book of the series so far. I laughed so hard I had tears running down my face. Every minute was pure fun. I could hardly put the book down.The characters are fun and relatable. Fortune has a way of minding her own business and finding trouble. I love that the women are strong and capable and while men can sometimes come to the rescue, they often rescue themselves without any help.The story moved at a good pace with little lag time between the action. I love the clever solutions the characters find to problems. No always legal but solutions.The mystery had a fun twist at the end that I did not see coming. Just when I thought I had it all figured out the author threw me a curve. I love surprises like that.I cannot wait to read all the rest of the series.

Another hit in the miss fortune series !! I loved this so much. So many twists and turns and plenty of hilarious antics, everyone needs a Gertie in their lives !! Fortune and the gang take no prisoners while investigating and have no issues committing a few criminal activities themselves to catch the bad guys !! This book will have you laughing out loud and sitting on the edge of your seat with every page, I can’t wait to find out what happens next !!

This series just keeps getting better per book! The basic background is a CIA Assasin Agent hiding out in a southern state from ruthless bad guy! Throw in some great characters, murders and shady sticky situations and at times downright funny situations while being help by two elderly women called Ida Belle and Gertie who have their own secrets from their early years and let's not forget to add a gorgeous law enforcement agent called Carter who the leading lady has to keep her real identity secret from him even though their relationship in turning out to be more than what is safe for her in more ways than one. Great stories in this series and really must be read to appreciate the humour and characters in this brilliant series and let's hope for much much more.

Fortune, Ida Belle and Gertie are having a very difficult summer in Sinful. Since Fortune was sent there to hide out (from a drug runner who wants her dead) crime has run rampant in Sinful, there have been murders, conspiracies and pudding wars. So far with the help of Ida Belle and Gertie Fortune has managed to keep her identity a secret but it's getting harder and harder with everything that's going on around her, added to which there is her budding relationship with the sheriffs deputy Carter, Fortune hates having to lie to him but the alternative is leaving Sinful which she is not prepared to do. For the first time in a long time she has people she cares about so with the aid of Swamp Team 3 she will do everything she can to protect Carter and find whoever it is who's trying to kill him. As ever this book is full of humour, I find myself laughing out loud, Jana DeLeon has got the most impressive comic timing, I would love to see a TV series made of this series it would be amazing.

an other great story from deleon, fortune thinks everthing is back to normal and she's have her first date with the possible new boyfriend,then the phone rings and all hell breaks loose.and the next fast paced story beginings,possible boyfriend missing,then she finds him and saves his live,then the fta appaer on the seen,plus fun and games with her two co-horts and even tiny gets in on the act,and you have to read it if only to see what the sheif gets up to on a mule and a car.loads of laughs and another not to be missed adsventure.

I've realised that although this series of books has a murder of two plus criminal behaviour I can't actually read the books in public because I never know when I will be laughing loudly at something the Swamp Team 3 are getting up to
