Big robots, mercenary 16 year olds, and a can of whoop***
Full Metal Panic! revolves around Kaname Chidori, a 16 year old girl who has something special to contribute to whoever can get her, an ancient knowledge known as Black Technology is in the bloodline of "The Whisperers" and sure enough this 16 year old is one of them. Mithril, the secret mercenary organization striving to keep peace, sends Sousuke Sagara, a 16 year old Sergeant in the orgnization to be her body guard without revealing that he is in the organization or that he is her body guard...and so our story unfolds...a popular 16 year old and a gung-ho 16 mercenary who has had no experience in the teenage world...The character design is something that the designers should be proud of. From flowing, and I must say, beautiful long hair and hell, even the shorter haired female characters looked impressive, and the guys, who actually look like men in military life and not guys pumped up on steroids with bulging muscles. Although anime, the characters do par up to what an actual persons size would be.The Story line was a very good one indeed, if I do say so on behalf of the team that made the show. The story was an excellent that made you want to see more and one where you had to watch to understand what was happening, yet it was easy to understand once you saw it, so no guessing and racking your brain out trying to figure out what the hell is going on. The plot also provides an excellent combination of laughter and seriousness. I found countless areas in the show where there would be a serious event occuring and all of a sudden I see a lower class officer get knee'd in the naughty zone for being a pervert. I mean even the stand in characters provided a laugh if you pay attention to them. An unlike my review with the Chrono Crusade Set, this combination doesn't stop, it is that mixture of laughter and seriousness to the end which provided for an excellent viewing, one of the best in which I've seen.I'm going to bring up the music tracks in this series into review as well. For those who care about what music is like in anime, this series chose very good tracks to use for opening and closing songs I believe. You would expect it to be maybe hard rock or something of the sort since the series does deal with mobile suits, but instead you have the lovely melody of a female singer, which I have to say, sounds absolutely wonderful, a good break away from the ordinary music you hear today. This series does not have alot of downfalls but it might for those who care about the follwing. Blood and killing is common in this series, and when I say this I don't mean it lightly. Although it doesn't show all of the incidents happening to the actual person, you see what caused the after effect. For example, there is an episode where one pilot runs his knife through anothers cockpit. Blood starts to poor out of the cockpit, so although you don't SEE what happened to the pilot, you know WHAT happened to them. I myself am not a huge fan of killing and the sort, but with things like this I thought they fit the purpose and fell right in line with the story, while sending the message home of what war is like. The next thing that might bother people is the cussing, which I didn't have a problem with. I thought this was almost ESSENTIAL because it seemed more natural, especially with mercenaries in a military type organization.I wouldn't get this for anyone thats TOO young, but I'd stick with the ratings of the board if your planning on getting this set for someone. Whoever likes this sort of thing, like me, will absolutely love it. I mean hell, I liked it so much I ordered the sequel (Full Metal Panic! Fumoffu). This is an excellent choice for any anime collection.

Full Metal Panic! One Of The Best Animes!
I was deciding whether to buy Full Metal Panic! It took me a day to decide if i want to buy the anime and i'm glad i did. This is one of the best animes i have ever seen! Introduction to FMPOn the surface, Kaname Chidori appears to be a normal high school student, Unbeknownst to her however, a group of terrorists believe she posseses the special powers of "The Whispered," and they're out to kidnap her. Enter Sousuke Sagara, a young hotshot agent from the anti-terrorist organization Mithril, assigned to protect Kaname without her finding out what's happening. Will he be able to keep her from falling into the cluthes of evil, or will he just drive her crazy as he tries to fit in as her awkward, gung-ho, war-crazed classmate? Sum Of The Story (No Spoilers and in my words)Full Metal Panic! is in the lines like Ranma 1/2, and Neon Genesis Evangelion. Sousuke, a military officer is sent to protect a high school girl name Kaname. The reason Kaname needs to be protect is because Mithril (The anti-terrorist organization) believes that Kaname is capeable of ending the terrorist war and also believes that she is "The Whispered". "The Whispered" has mental powers and if capture by the terrorist, Mithril mission will fail. Mithril is more advanced than any other military. In other words, Mithril is 10 years more advanced than Japan current tech. Easy? Not for Sousuke! Sousuke serves as a bodyguard for Kaname but, Kaname doesn't know that she has a bodyguard. Sousuke is your typical military guy while Kaname is popluar, and loud. The two doesn't go quite together, so expect one hell of a ride! The setting takes place in Japan around the future. The graphics are really good and the action is really good. There is alot of action and alot of emotional moments. The anime is balance, Like action, comedy, emotional, action, While maintaining the plot. The music is good and sets the mood in certain situtions, Don't get me wrong, The soundtrack for FMP! is really good! The opening and ending songs stay true to the anime. There are brief nudity scenes, so i reccommend the age for 16+. Their is kinda a strong language in the anime, so if you are not a big fan of people cursing, then you should consister if you still want to buy it. If you don't care about the cursing, brief nudity scenes and want to buy the anime, I'm not stopping you.The boxset is big. The box is design like the outside of a machine (which is really cool!) The boxset can fit anywhere, but be expected to move things if it can't fit the way you want it. It comes with 7 Dvds with extras. Now for the episodes, there are a total of 24. The extras are Clean Opening, Clean Ending, Production Sketches, Privacy Warning, ADV Previews. It the same thing for each disc, but the previews are different.Since Full Metal Panic! was one of the North America best seller, There is actually three seasons. First is the Full Metal Panic!, Next is Full Metal Panic! Fumoffu, and the last is Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid. The second and third season already came out, but the third season is made by Funanimation Productions. So expect the third season to be really good! When i finished FMP, I felt like i just finished an anime that i can watch over and over again. I had the same feeling when i watch Gunslinger Girl (which i watch a total of 6 times). Buy FMP! You will not regret buying the anime!

Really cool anime
I’ve avoided Full Metal Panic for a while because I just didn’t have an interest in mecha. But I kept looking at it over and over considering it and finally decided to give it a try. I’m pretty glad I did because I really like it. From a mecha stand point I actually was pretty impressed too and will likely look into more mecha to try now. I really liked the serious parts and the military aspect, but the comedy was pretty good as well. Even though I don’t like a lot of comedy they did pretty well keeping the serious situations serious and letting the comedy be in the in between light moments. The only thing I didn’t really like was the lambda drive thing that was kinda ridiculous to me and made it too sci fi. But the animation is beautiful and the story is pretty good. I love Kaname, she is one of my favorite female characters. All the characters are really good.

Solo lingua giapponese

One of the best of the classic Mech Series returns!
Full Metal Panic is one of the very best of the older Sci-Fi Giant Mech action/comedy series out there. Originally released by ADV as 7 singles back in the early 2000's and then re-released as a 7 disc thinpak collection in 2004. I considered it at the time as one of the better ADV Giant Mech series out there and I still do!It was then subsequently license rescued and re-released yet again by Funimation back in 2010 as a 4 disc DVD collection and a separate upscaled 3 disc Bluray edition. This newest re-release therefore is basically a 7 disc Combo collection of the two older Funi releases packaged together under their Anime Legends budget label. This new edition actually being cheaper than either of the two separate releases and half the price I paid for my original ADV DVD thinpak collection! Making it a very good deal indeed for a full 24 episode series! The plot is quite simple really. MITHRIL a secret Mercenary organization discovers that a schoolgirl by the name of Kaname Chidori may be one of the Whispered. A very rare and special group of individuals who have the ability to think and use tactical and strategic possibilities (here called Black technology) that others can't and terrorist organizations intend to grab her. So they assign their best agent, a young man by the name of Sagara Sosuke to infiltrate her school to protect her! You can pretty much figure out the plot from there! What makes it so good is it's an almost perfect blend of action and comedy especially at the beginning. The Mech and battle action is first rate and the fact Sagara grew up on the battlefield and knows absolutely nothing about normal society and how to interact with other teens his age makes him the absolute perfect fish out of water. You'll be laughing your head off in one episode and then the next episode could be deadly serious. It's that type of show. The only downside to the series being for me in this first season is that the main villain is one of those characters that never really gets killed off no matter what you do to him and keeps reappearing like a bad penny. Though in all fairness he is a pretty damn good villain. Still......... it can get a little exasperating. Please note that being an older series it's in the standard 4x3 format. With the original DVD Japanese Stereo bumped up to a Dolby True HD 2.0 on the Bluray and the English from a DD 5.1 to a Dolby True HD 5.1 track. But since both the HD video and the 5.1 audio are both conversions from the original Japanese SD and Stereo; don't expect a dramatic improvement. I found the Funimation DVD's to be pretty much identical to my older ADV set. While the BluRays did improve on the video a bit and I found the audio a bit richer as well.As for this newest Combo release; it's in Funimations standard Blu Ray multi-disc case that they're pretty much using for every combo release now. It's a nice compact case with inner flippers and a slip cover. And has a reversible cover with inner artwork that doesn't duplicate the front outer/slip cover artwork. And a back with a simple listing of all the discs and the episodes they contain. I really liked this and immediately flipped it over to the front. As for the rest; there are four DVDs with six episodes per DVD and three BDs with eight episodes per disc. Seven discs in all. But the Funimation release lacks the older ADV animated production galleries that were on each of ADVs seven original DVDs. So that's a bit of a loss. But on the other hand they do have an interview with the original author and the anime producers. Plus it's a Blu Ray and it only takes up about a third of the space of the older ADV set! So if you have the original ADV DVD collection; it's up to you to decide if you feel it's worth upgrading? But if you don't; then this is definitely the one to buy!Overall, if you like Giant Mech series; this first season set is definitely a keeper. I'd rate it 4-1/2 stars out of 5. While the second season (Second Raid) I'd rate about 3-1/2 to 4 stars. (It's considered a little weaker.) And the Fumoffu spinoff is a heckuva fine 4 to 4-1/2 star comedy as well.J. A.

Full Metal Panic Review
Wow, this is totally one my best buys this year really funny and quite bit action too, everything manga should be in my opinion. Five stars all the way. :)The action and the humour combined in Full Metal Panic has created some truly brilliant and really existing and touching entertainment. This 1 of 3 seasons and the 3rd not yet released to region 2.What Is full metal panic roughly about you ask? Well here is a brief intro..The storyline consists of a young mercenary soldier named Sousuke Sagara. He works for the Anti-Terrorist group named Mithril. He is assigned to protect and a young girl the same age as him (16) named Kaname Chidori. Through the series we watch how they start to fall in love and how he must fight off her and Mithrils enemies while also having to tackle the more challenging task of being an undercover school boy and having also the challenging task of understanding everyday life as a school boy while also having to socialize with his classmates while protecting Kaname at any cost.
