HOLOSUN HS407CO X2 Red 8MOA Dot, Solar Failsafe, Shake Awake

The 8 moa circle is the way (for me) to go. I'm a firearms instructor (over 20 years now) and a police officer (over 16 years now) and I had a few pistol dots. Took a whirl at this one when they came out and now ever pistol I have that will take this sized optic is wearing one. My eyes aren't as young as they once were and this was a definite force multiplier for me. I say "for me" as different kit is going to suit some better than others and anyone telling you "this one way is the way" is not teaching you, they are indoctrination you. That said, this was as big a game changer for me as going from irons to red dots initially.

I like everything about this red dot. The 8 MOA circle sets it apart. Perfect for my old tires eyes. Even better than the 6 MOA dot on the 407k, plus with the 407CO you get solar backup with the shake awake, for better battery life.

8 MOA circle is perfect for folks with astigmatism.

The optic is 5 stars, the -1 is because the battery that came in the optic had some corrosion which lead to unreliability out of the box. Swapped the 1632, cleaned the battery contacts so now it's 100%, but if I didn't have a stash of extra 1632s it might have been annoying to deal with.This is probably the best available pistol optic in terms of price to capability ratio. The 8moa ring reticle is fast up close and gives you the ability to more precisely judge hold-overs at distance without the visual noise of a more complex reticle. The circle is big, highly visible, and leaves a very distinct streak under recoil so you can see if your grip is consistent. I haven't used it under NODs, so I can't speak to any night vision capability, but the brightest settings are daylight bright and the lowest settings are visible in lower light. This is probably the right took for the vast majority of shooters, and it remains super underrated.

These are awesome red dots. Don't even bother considering another one without shake awake. That feature alone makes this significantly better than the competition.This is my 2nd one and I will continue to buy more. replaced my vortex venom and never looked back.

Love this sight. I have an astigmatism and many many sights are blurry or look like a splat. this one is clear for me and my shot groups are great. Love it.

I particularly like the 8 MOA aiming point. It is a fairly thick circle that is easy to find quickly, Features like Fail safe- keeps the dot on if the battery fails; a battery compartment that can be accessed from the side; RMR footprint; aluminum case; click elev & windage adjustments; and Shake-awake to turn the sight on - no buttons to push, It has all the features I need at a reasonable cost.
