Moukey MAMX1 Audio Mixer

This really is an excellent product. I have two audio and midi mixers for use with my computer so I have been around the track many times researching value for money mixers with decent sound. This time I needed a compact mixer to use with my electric violin in order to mix accompanying tracks played from my phone. Again after much research and trial and error this little gem has at last delivered what I needed. It is very decent quality, limited if any background noise through my headphones, great controls for each track and adequate output volume through headphones. Lead plugs into a standard USB charger from a phone. I have tried others of higher cost which simply didn't have the functionality and decent quality of this unit. Yes my larger desktop mixers have higher quality and bells and whistles. But this is truly a well made and surprisingly good quality unit which I don't think is bettered anywhere near this price point. Well done!!!

I'm using this mixer to allow output from a PC, tablet, PS4 and guitar effects pedal to be heard through a single set of headphones, and it does a fantastic job of it. As long as it's set up correctly there's no added noise to the signal at all, and it delivers a quality audio signal at great volume. A couple of tips to make sure you're getting the best out of it: - Make sure you're using the provided plug to supply power and not connecting the mixer's USB power cable to one of the devices you're mixing the sound from. Supplying power from the devices you're getting the sound from can add a lot of electrical noise to the signal. - If you're using 3.5mm - 1/4in converters to make the output a standard device 'headphone jack', make sure you're using 'standard' headphones that don't have a mic! Headphones with a mic have a different connector which can cause problems with the stereo output. That being said, I've found I can use a set of headphones that have a mic if I trap down the 'mic on' button with a cable tie. The microphone signal won't be going anywhere so it simply allows you to use the headphones as 'standard' headphones with the mixer.

Needed a very small battery powered mixer to monitor a number of devices, with one set of headphones. Its much better than i expected for the price i paid. You need to be careful about what you plug it into, i powered the mixer and another device from the same USB power bank, and the noise was really bad, but powered by its own supply or powerbank its very quiet. The only downside is that it seems to lose quite a bit of the low end in the audio. All in all, a solid purchase.

Great little box, does exactly what I need it for - which is playing a guitar over a backing track from a laptop/phone. Four independent volume controls for each input device makes it easy to set up, and a master volume control for the headphones/output. There was a little bit of background noise at higher volumes but stopped that completely by earthing the box using the earth terminal on the back of the mixer. Very happy with this indeed.

This soundboard has enabled me to route multiple audio sources into my headphones. I enjoy watching/listening to YouTube while playing on my switch. You'll need to get some adapters to make it work, but it's well worth the investment. I'd like to note that if you want buzz-free audio, never have your power source come from the same place as your audio, as this can cause a feedback loop (not pleasant). To be specific, it can come from the same outlet, just not from the same computer, i.e., through one of the USB ports on your computer.

Reasonable bit of kit, do get a level of hum from the connections that changes depending on how last jiggled it. Also a whine is audible when inputs are relatively quiet. Balancing the volumes on the mixer and my amplifier makes this a non issue though. Originally I tried to power it using a USB port on my pc. Whilst it appeared to be working, the power LED was on, it didn't put anything put. Had to change to a dedicated wall socket to make it work.

Smaller than I imagined, this really is Pocket sized! I have this unit tucked behind my digital piano, enabling me to use a piano learning app to it's full - the app listening to my piano and i can hear both the app and piano together - all whilst others in the room hear sweet nothing! Handy tip - the manual advised we earth the connections. And I understand why, because without earthing there is a humming noise in my setup. This hum is completely irradiated by connecting all the 1/4 inch jack adaptors to the earth pin using conductive sticky tape! (I suspect Tin foil tightly packed, or even think cooper wire would do just as well). Great sound and no electrical noise - I'm a happy man!

Perfect, absolutely perfect for what I wanted it for, mixing my bass guitar and iPad to my headphones for practice. Very pleased, and I’ve luckily not (yet) encountered any of the issues some other people have - namely noise, none, and incompatibility with power banks, that’s ok too.

Ich habe mir den Mixer gekauft, da ich einen Weg gesucht habe, den Konsolen-Sound meiner Playstation mit dem Sound meines MacBooks zu mischen. Installation war äußerst simpel und selbsterklärend: Aux-Kabel vom Controller in einen der Inputs, Aux-Kabel vom Mac/Pc in einen der Inputs, Kabel vom Headset in den Output: fertig. Ich empfinde den Sound als äußerst klar und konnte keine Störgeräusche verzeichnen. Ich habe das Gerät täglich im Gebrauch und es ist eine absolute Bereicherung für meinen Schreibtisch, da ich nun alle möglichen Audioquellen zusammenführen kann. Besonders hervorheben möchte ich, dass robuste und schichte Gehäuse gut verarbeitet ist. Nach der intensiven Nutzungszeit sind mir 3 Dinge aufgefallen : 1. Der "Wiederstand" beim Drehen der Mixerknöpfe hat nach einer gewissen Zeit leicht nachgelassen, was jedoch kein Einfluss auf die Funktionen des Gerätes hatte. 2. Die kleine Einkerbung auf den Mixerknöpfen ist relativ zarghaft, somit fällt es manchmal schwer die Lautstärke, nur anhand der Stellung zu justieren. Eine größere Erhöhung und eine andere Farbgebung wären hier optimal. 3. Das Gerät besitzt keinen Ausschalter, sprich es muss tendenziell immer vom Netzteil getrennt werden, wenn man es nicht benutzt, ich verstehe jedoch auch, dass es hauptsächlich ein Mixer ist, der aufgrund seiner Größe für die Benutzung unterwegs konzipiert wurde und somit es somit nicht für jede Käuferin oder jeden Käufer essentiell ist, das Gerät separat ausschalten zu können. Alles in allem bin ich sehr zufrieden und preisleistungstechnisch bekommt man hier ein sehr solides Produkt.

Más barato que en tiendas especializadas, un mixer stereo de 4 vías vale más del doble en cualquier sitio... Lo utilizo para duplicar la señal en mono de un preamp y va genial... Es pequeño, y más sencillo de usar imposible, no deja ruido rosa ni tensión por debajo de 75/80%.. Encantado la verdad!

buon mixer di piccole dimensioni, senza nessun rumore. si alimenta con qualsiasi caricatore usb 5V da muro e permette di usare sia sorgenti mono che stereo con l'apposito tasto.

J'avais des doutes, surtout du fait que le fabriquant soit orienté karaokey, mais non, pas d'inquiétude à avoir, c'est vraiment très bien, ce petit mixer tient toutes ses promesses. Je voulais pas d'une table de mixage avec des tats de potards qui ne servent jamais. Je l'utilise pour mixer 4 synthétiseurs: un stéréo et 3 mono, pour récupérer un signal stéréo de l'ensemble en sortie, et c'est parfait, très faible bruit, solide. On regrette de ne pas trouver le manuel en ligne et qu'il manque un interrupteur pour l'allumer et l'éteindre facilement, heureusement ma multiprise dispose d'un arrêt général ce qui m'évite de devoir me préoccuper de son cas.

Firstly now that I bought the 8 input/2 output version, to answer my own question about the product which was extremely incorrectly answered by "Technocrat", and to address the same questions that absolutely will arise in the future with 100% certainty: 1. Yes. With the 8-input 2 output version you absolutely can use one of the 2 output ports for studio monitoring headphones, and another for "master out" or "CR" or whatever your main output is. When the button in the top right corner is depressed - this UNIFIES the 2 outputs, and the stereo input from all 8 ports will go to BOTH output ports. There will be a slight volume reduction which you can remedy by increasing the volume(s). This is what makes the 8 output version the best value for your money - it becomes a full fledged 8 stereo input mixing board with headphone out. The main con of this tiny (but powerful) mixer is ground loop which is addressed in many mixing boards. However, the designers of 8-input 2-output Mookey have addressed this issue by including a bolt for hooking up your grounding wire which should reduce or eliminate interference. I suggest also using ferrite rings on your cables (unless you are already using balanced audio) 2. No. The 2 separate outputs CANNOT be used as two L&R channel outputs for the 8 stereo/mono input setup. Meaning top output will not become the R (Right) channel and bottom output will not become L (Left channel) when you press the top right corner button. Both will be L/R or Mono, depending on whether your inputs and outputs are stereo or mono (you will have to specify which they are by pressing the 8 buttons on/off). Pressing that button simply separates or unifies the 4 top and 4 bottom inputs. Had the separate L and R outputs been the case - you wouldn't be able to use one of the outputs for headphone monitoring from all 8 inputs. So believe me, other than having to buy extra 1/4' to 3.5mm stereo adaptor(s) or other adaptors to suit your setup - you lose nothing. It's better this way. Perhaps the best part was that there is very little to no interference when powering this mini mixer from the USB port of the same laptop the drum machine sound is coming from to one of its "in" ports. I really didn't think it would work out at all! Even more impressive was that there doesn't seem to be a lot of interference when placing it close to the source of sound or to the output, which makes busking with this little device - a piece of cake. 1 huge con is that it lacks an "on/off switch but the same is true of many budget mixers from Mackie and Behringer. I would have paid extra $5-10 for that feature no problem. Another issue (and this is a big one) - you do need a USB3 port or separate AC/DV 5 volt, 1 Amp adaptor to power it. So it's preferable to not plug it into the USB type 2 port. You need a USB power source that can provide about 1 Amp of current (like a USB 3) or a 1-2 amp adaptor, and yes you can use higher amperage, the device will only use what it needs. I noticed that when I use a USB type 2 port, and raise the volume above 60-70% - signal begins to cut out and disappear. It's clearly struggling with 500-750 mA phone adaptors as well. It doesn't have its own FX means you can forget about plugging in your microphone directly if you are the singing type, or you will need a separate mixer with FX. But for jamming live/busking/etc. with your friends, particularly if you're using MIDI keyboards going through laptops and laptop-based drum machine software like Fruity Loops, Absynth, Reaktor, Ableton/etc. - this little device is ideal. Think just how much more difficult it would be to pack and drag along your regular studio mixing board by comparison, not to mention having to unplug everything from it and plug it all back in every single time. Personally, I use this little mixer as both a pre-mixer, and as FX sends unit form the stereo outputs of my hardware synths. The first unit I bought was a 4 input/1 output version. But I needed something I could use for my busking and live gig setups, something which has an option for plugging in monitoring headphones. And as such - the 8 input/2 output version is ideal. Very solid construction for a $30 device. Really tight controls, no crackle when adjusting volume. Nice, wet rubber feet. Mono switches make plugging in a guitar synth/pedal patch cord very easy if your guitarist friend wants to have a live jam outside. Time will tell though, how well it will perform in the future.
