A great product that works as advertised
I had an older Durozone Red-4 zone control system that failed and had to find a replacement. I found this product on Amazon and it is actually better than my original unit. Installation was pretty straight forward with the exception of wiring the dampers. The old dampers were also Durozone dampers and they had 5 terminals and required both 24AC wires to power the dampers. The Smartzone damper connections only contained the common terminal. Luckily, the Smartzone website provides wiring instructions for many types of dampers and I was able to power the dampers with no issues. I've looked at a lot of different options for zone controls and this solution was by far the cheapest and best solution I could find.

Great Product, Great Support
I had a 20 year old Carrier Zone controller on its last legs. I bought this Ecojay SmartZone-4X controller to replace the old one at the point I upgraded the furnace and cooling condenser. Before I bought the EcoJay product, I called in to verify that it would work with my equipment. I got a slow, detailed, thorough discussion, and decided to buy it.After my new HVAC equipment was installed, I installed the zone controller. The product does exactly what the sales literature says it will. I've had it in use for about a month, and it's performed flawlessly. This controller board is exceptionally well-designed and manufactured. It's easy to install, and the documentation is easy to follow. The board has LED lights on it and digital displays that tell you exactly what the board is doing, making it a snap to diagnose problems and monitor the board's performance during the test-out phase of installation. The post-sale support is exceptional on all counts. Fast, competent, patient, free. I am not an HVAC professional, and I made two mistakes during installation which would have ruined a less-well-designed board. I called EcoJay's support line, and they helped me fix my problems in minutes.I recommend this product with no reservations.

Top Notch Zone Controller
Had to replace furnace two years ago and got a two-stage unit with "one-stage compatibility" as required by my old Honeywell EMM3 zone panel. During a single digit negative cold snap, the furnace started tripping its protection limit circuit (running stage two for one zone for too long). Replaced the Honeywell with the Ecojay and all issues resolved. Between the supply air temp sensor and the "keep on stage one unless multiple zones require heat", furnace performance is at a new level. Zone temperatures are spot on and could not be happier. The unit has lots of LEDs to make any tech geek smile. More importantly, diagnostics are trivial because you know in real time exactly what signals the controller is receiving and what it is sending. The one opportunity for improvement would be including discrete terminals for controlling a humidifier and A/C contactor. With some care, you can get two 18ga wires into the existing terminals (two W1 for furnace+humidifier and two Y1 for furnace+AC), but it is not optimal. It is impossible to get the three required commons into the single spring terminal. I mounted an external terminal block to address the secondary connections. Moreover, having the ecojay intelligently control the humidifier (only engage while supply air is at proper temperature) would make the unit even that much better.Great bit of engineering at a great price and top quality performance.

Fantastic Product
After failures of 2 Honeywell HZ311 multi-zone controllers in 5 years, I decided not to manifest the definition of “insanity” by replacing the second blown board with a 3rd one. I went with this ecojay instead. I bought and installed the 4x board and it is far superior to the Honeywell HZ311 in every way.Having had to troubleshoot and repair multiple issues over several years with the Honeywell board, I had become well versed in the multizone concept and function, so by the time I installed this board, it literally took me 30 minutes to install, including two trips to the garage to flip breakers. I love the status lights and temp sensor reading for the supply line. I’m very happy with this product and it has been working perfectly.

Excellent Product - Avoided Buying Another AC Unit
Ecojay was part of heat & cooling bedroom & bath system for new house addition project. Others said I needed another AC unit because the existing 3.5 ton unit was at capacity. Because spray foam insulation was used for walls and roof, the added load was small for 500 ft2 bedroom addition which did not justify high cost of another AC unit. All together, about $600 for Ecojay, motorized dampers, flex duct and thermostats. The Ecojay wiring and configuration is intuitive and straight forward and used for 3 zones.* New dedicated 24 VAC transformer wired to bottom left terminals with 2 conductor - 16-ga cable.* Connected 3 thermostats. Each is wired to left hand side using same labels and color scheme as heat pump thermostat using 6 conductor 18-ga cable.* Connected 2 motorized dampers wire to the right side using 3 conductor 18-ga cable.* Equipment connections on right configured same as Zone 1 thermostat cable on left* Turned on dip switches 1, 2, 5 for electric heat pump* Set stat type to HP for zones 1, 2 & 3* Installed plenum supply air temperature with probe (included)* O/B terminal for heat pump is configured for "B", reversing valve power is for heat mode* Be sure to turn off 24 VAC power from both existing air handler & new 24 VAC transformer when performing any wiring to thermostats, dampers and equipment.

Good Quality Easy to follow instructions
Works good as a Honeywell. If you are running damper motors be sure to change out the transformer to at least 60 VA.
